Life & Work with Bethany Walter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Walter.

Bethany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in the wedding photography world in 2010. When my husband and I were planning our wedding, I loved looking through wedding pictures, supposedly for inspiration for colors, decor, etc but I kept gravitating to the couple, the emotions, and the intimacy of the memories captured. I found great color and decor ideas too, but I also found what I wanted to do!

Fast forward 12 years, and here we are! Still excited about weddings and preserving memories.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish I could say it has been easy! But we all know the things worth doing are not always a smooth road. The biggest obstacle has probably been the same struggles other business owners faced with covid.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love photographing weddings because I am entrusted to capture one of the most important days in a couple’s life! It is very humbling to be welcomed into someone’s family and trusted to document their wedding day.

I specialize in both intimate and elaborate celebrations, but the emotions of the day are my favorite regardless of the venue. As the wedding day unfolds, I love preserving the look on the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time, the way the mother of the bride looks at her husband as he walks their daughter down the aisle, or the way the mother of the groom look at her son and sees him as her little boy all grown up. There are too many moments I love capturing to name!

I think what sets me apart is that I limit the number of weddings I take each year. I want to make my couple’s a priority. I want their wedding day to be special and not just another event. Limiting the number of weddings allows me to form a real relationship with my couples and that allows for better images and more comfort for the bride and groom on the wedding day.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’m not the best fit for everyone! I’ve learned to not take it personally when a couple goes with another photographer. I’ve also learned that there is an ebb and flow to seasons in business and I’m always thankful for the blessings God gives to my family through my business and the couples I get to work with.
