Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Doby.
Hi Alicia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
How I got started with my business, let’s just say the first word, “Covid”. At that time I was working as a housekeeper for this cleaning company but then Covid struck and so did my job. Being a single mother of two daughters I had to think of any other hustle I could do until another job came along. I then thought well I have a little experience with cooking and baking but seeing on social media people like treats for their special occasions I figured to give it a try. Within weeks I started getting customers from doing orders after orders, sure some were lesson learned orders; mistakes that I’ve learned from that made me a better treat maker that I am today! A year into the business I had officially made my business legit then also got my diploma and Associates in Pastry Arts. Over the years I have learned a lot of mastering creativity into my treats and cakes. Today I now make about as much as a normal paycheck within three days of orders. I also had my first ever event not that long ago and praying for more. I also pray one day that I have my own bakery and also had an idea of a vending machine that I will put some of my treats in so that my customers could get my treats quick and easy. I really love what I do! Seeing my customers reactions and smiles keeps me going! I just love it! It’s definitely a passion, you would tell because I get so excited to do an order lol. But this isn’t just a short term business, this is a business that I am going to pass down to my daughters!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It honestly haven’t been smooth, struggles were first starting off getting the supplies when you don’t even have the money to even start on your customer order…it was also slow periods at times but I then started practicing on more treats and advertising them.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Treat and cake artist, I’m known for my creativity style in my treats and cakes. I am proud of how far my business have came from when I first started four years ago. What sets me apart from others is just my creative style.
