Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Sarah Cebulski

Sarah Cebulski shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Sarah, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What battle are you avoiding?
The battle I’m avoiding is resisting the urge to overextend myself. Between running my photography business and juggling a few different side hustles, I sometimes tend to spread myself too thin. I need to remind myself it’s okay to do things just for fun, without turning every hobby into another form of productivity. Relaxation doesn’t come naturally to me, but I’m realizing that giving myself permission to rest is just as productive as working, because it helps me recharge and avoid burnout.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a fashion and editorial turned wedding and lifestyle photographer that services both Florida, New York and beyond. I specialize in light, true to color imagery that captures genuine connection and emotion. What makes my brand unique is the intentional way I approach each wedding day. I want my couples to feel fully present in their moments while trusting that I’m there to preserve them intentionally and accurately. Right now, I’m focused on growing my business to destinations and continuing to refine my work flow in a way that balances art with authenticity.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that college was my ticket to success. I thought that if I did everything “right” I’d have it all figured out. I don’t believe that anymore. I’ve learned that success isn’t a one size fits all, and that following your own path, taking risks, and pursuing what truly matters to you is just as powerful as any degree.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the defining wounds in my life has been related to my adoption. Growing up, I wrestled with questions of identity and belonging. Capturing moments that will be remembered for generations to come is my own version of a family heirloom. It’s something that pushes me forward. Even though I lack those early photographs from my own childhood, it’s comforting to know I’m creating them for others.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Cliche, but my friends would say what really matters to me is taking photos, and taking them often. I love candid moments for the memory itself, not just for social media. To me, the best photo is the one that exists, and the worst one is the one that doesn’t. The photo that keeps the memory alive and allows a moment in time to live on forever will always be the best one.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
I’ll regret not fully pursuing experiences that ignite a fire in me. Whether that’s traveling to new places, trying something I’m scared of, or fully diving into my creative passions. Life is short, and I want to look back knowing I embraced every opportunity imaginable instead of letting fear hold me back.
