Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Lakecia Walker of Jacksonville Surrounding Areas

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lakecia Walker . Check out our conversation below.

Lakecia , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My first hour is all about peace and purpose, prayer, declarations, and mapping out my plan for the day. It sets the tone for everything that follows.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
✨ Magazine Feature Introduction: “The Goddess Behind the Brand”

When you meet LaKecia Walker, you instantly feel her light, a mix of faith, fashion, and fierce determination. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, LaKecia is the visionary force behind Simply Ke’say Boutique, a brand that has been redefining what it means to walk in confidence and purpose for nearly a decade.

What began as a boutique built on bold fashion and self-expression has blossomed into something much deeper — a movement of empowerment. Through her platform Confessions of a Goddess, LaKecia curates transformative experiences that remind women of their worth, power, and inner glow. Her signature events, like the Luxe Marketplace Pop-Up Shop held each year during Essence Festival Weekend in New Orleans, unite small-business owners, creatives, and dreamers under one roof creating an atmosphere filled with sisterhood, style, and inspiration.

But her impact doesn’t stop at the runway or vendor table. Through initiatives like the Goddess Lounge, she gives women who have faced hardship a chance to be seen again offering makeovers, healing, and a safe space to share their stories. For LaKecia, it’s not just about clothes; it’s about transformation from the inside out.

Adding another dimension to her purpose-driven path, LaKecia is also a Realtor® with Century 21 Lighthouse Realty, where her motto, “Get It Done with Ke,” carries the same heart as her fashion brand , helping families and individuals find not just houses, but homes and hope.

Today, she continues to expand her vision with the upcoming Simply Ke’say Luxe Life Journal, merging fashion, faith, and personal growth. Every project she touches carries her signature sparkle, part prayer, part power, all purpose.

Her story is one of resilience, reinvention, and divine alignment, a reminder that when you walk boldly in who you were created to be, the world can’t help but take notice.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Without question, my mother, Flora, taught me the most about work , and more importantly, about purpose behind the work. I watched her gracefully juggle multiple jobs, attend school, and still care for three children, her parents, her grandparent, and her aunt all as a single mother. She never missed a beat, and she never complained.

Her strength, resilience, and quiet determination shaped everything I am today. She showed me that work isn’t just about earning a living; it’s about creating a legacy of love, sacrifice, and perseverance. Watching her taught me that no matter how heavy life gets, you keep showing up with grace, gratitude, and faith that better days are coming.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self not to worry about what people think or how they may view your situation. God does not make mistakes. Every detail of your life even the parts that didn’t make sense at the time was designed with purpose.

You were created uniquely, intentionally, and beautifully in the image of Christ. Don’t dim your light trying to fit into someone else’s idea of who you should be. You have a purpose to fulfill, and everything you’ve been through is preparing you to walk boldly in it. Trust that God’s plan is perfect, even when you can’t see it yet.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies people are told about entrepreneurship is that it’s easy. Too often, the highlight reels get shared the wins, the photoshoots, the grand openings, but not the long nights, the slow seasons, or the moments of doubt that come with building something from the ground up.

What many don’t realize is that entrepreneurship is not for the weak. There are seasons when the money isn’t flowing, yet the bills, business expenses, and responsibilities never stop. It’s in those moments that your faith, discipline, and mindset are truly tested.

You can’t be cut from a cheap piece of cloth in this journey , it has to be tough, resilient, and anchored in faith. Entrepreneurship requires you to pivot, persevere, and pray your way through the hard times, knowing that every obstacle is shaping you into the leader you were called to be.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
If there’s one thing I truly regret, it’s not spending as much time with my pops as he got older as I did when I was younger. I wish I had slowed down long enough to sit with him more, listen to his stories, and capture the history that lived inside of him.

My father, affectionately known as OllieBoo, an Eastside legend was a walking book of wisdom, humor, and strength. He carried generations of knowledge that deserved to be preserved. I regret not documenting his journey the way I should have, because his story was a powerful piece of who my siblings and I am today.

If I’ve learned anything, it’s to treasure those moments and give flowers while people can still smell them. Time is the one thing we can’t get back, and legacy is the one thing we can carry forward.
