Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with DeAngelo Rogers of Jacksonville

DeAngelo Rogers shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi DeAngelo, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing stability, ownership, and generational wealth through RogerThat Logistics, LLC. My goal is to build something lasting, an operation that creates opportunities not just for me, but for my family and future generations. If I stopped, the cycle of starting over would continue, and the chance to change my family’s financial trajectory would be lost. Continuing forward means breaking that cycle, building equity, and proving that long-term success is possible through discipline, service, and consistency.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m DeAngelo Rogers, the founder of RogerThat Logistics, LLC, a small, locally owned logistics and courier company. Before starting my own business, I spent years in the logistics industry working in senior leadership roles, from Director of Operations to Chief Commercial Officer. I had the opportunity to help grow and manage large organizations, build teams, and oversee complex operations, but I always knew I wanted to take that experience and build something of my own.

RogerThat Logistics, LLC was born from the idea of bringing big-company discipline and standards to a small, agile operation. Today, I’m hands-on in every part of the business, focused on reliability, clear communication, and delivering real value to our customers. While we’re proud to be a local company right now, my vision is much bigger. I’m building RogerThat Logistics with the long-term goal of scaling it into a nationally recognized company and one day, a future Fortune 500 organization that creates opportunity, stability, and generational wealth.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother taught me the most about work. She showed me, through her actions, what discipline, consistency, and responsibility really look like. I watched her show up every day, handle challenges without excuses, and keep going even when things weren’t easy. She didn’t just teach me how to work hard, she taught me how to work with purpose, integrity, and pride.

Seeing her commitment instilled in me the belief that work is about more than just earning a paycheck; it’s about building something meaningful and setting an example for the next generation. That mindset has carried over into how I lead and how I’m building RogerThat Logistics showing up, doing the work the right way, and never cutting corners, no matter the circumstances.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was a time when I seriously considered giving up, especially when the funds were running low and I had exhausted every obvious option. Building a business can be isolating, and there were moments when the pressure felt overwhelming and the path forward wasn’t clear. What kept me going was remembering why I started and the responsibility I carry not just for myself, but for my family and the future I’m trying to build.

In those moments, I leaned on resilience, faith, and the work ethic that was instilled in me early on. Instead of quitting, I adjusted, learned, and kept moving forward one decision at a time. Those challenges didn’t stop the journey, they strengthened it and reinforced my commitment to see this through, no matter how difficult it gets.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I believe in doing what you say you’re going to do especially when no one is watching. In logistics, trust is everything, and accountability is what keeps that trust intact. I hold myself to the same standard I expect from anyone working with or alongside my company.

That value comes from how I was raised and from my experience leading teams at high levels. At RogerThat Logistics, accountability shows up in how we communicate, how we handle challenges, and how we own mistakes and fix them quickly. Protecting that culture ensures we grow the right way built on integrity, reliability, and respect.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Most definitely. I was taught early on that giving your best isn’t about recognition, it’s about character. You show up and do the work the right way because that’s who you are, not because someone is watching or applauding. That mindset has guided me through every stage of my career, from leadership roles to building my own company from the ground up.

Even when the effort goes unnoticed, I believe consistency and excellence always compound over time. At RogerThat Logistics, that belief shapes how I operate every day doing the right thing, delivering at a high standard, and trusting that the results will speak for themselves.
