Kale James’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kale James. Check out our conversation below.

Kale , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What battle are you avoiding?
Increasing my presence online. I’m so caught up with living in the moment that it’s hard to keep up with the pace of the internet.
But the main goal as been to share the music, that’s most important to me.
I do feel myself beginning to jump over that hurdle

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
describe myself as an artist who makes music for your everyday—songs you can connect to no matter where you are in life. My journey began at Lyricist Live rap cyphers and has taken me to major stages and festivals. With roots in choir and school bands, I bring soul and lyricism to every track. My last project, It’s Personal, explored my growth, and now I’m creating something new—different from anything I’ve done before.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I think there’s many people that taught me about work. Most of my work ethic and experience came from sports. Just seeing what people’s bodies could do at their peak could drive anyone to be better. So coaches, teammates, etc.
to me hip hop is like a sport and you gotta train the same way.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
What you are is enough and believe in that. Even if you aren’t supposed to be here…you are now so do it to your best.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Rap and hip-hop often get a muddy reputation, but I believe it’s the most influential genre of music today. Like any genre, it has its negatives, but in our world that tends to get highlighted more. At the end of the day, it’s the consumers who shape how the culture is perceived.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What light inside you have you been dimming?
It’s always hard sharing pieces of yourself with the world. I put a lot of myself into the music so it’s always a hard decision to share it. So I think that’s hold me back from releasing some of my work.
