Inspiring Conversations with Tomeka Morgan of Blue Leaf Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tomeka Morgan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been a licensed cosmetologist for about 20 years and a small business owner for about 9 have a team of six amazing young ladies who work with me. I don’t consider myself a boss, I am a leader.

In all my years in this business, COVID season was the hardest. I got diagnosed with breast cancer had two lumpectomies and 44 radiation treatments. Once I beat cancer I got COVID… go figure. I am not only a leader, but I also am a fighter and those 2 c’s could not take me down not only was 2021 my highest-grossing year it was my highest growing year.

Family, humility, love and forgiveness is how I live in my truth. See we all want the American dream all you see is hustle but put God and family first and everything will fall into place.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would say the biggest struggle in my journey has been finding my way through everything that has been going on.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Blue Leaf Salon?
We are a full-service salon. We focus on consistency with all of our guests. What sets us apart from other salons is that we are truly multi-cultural.. check our Instagram… I won’t refer to knowing that we set the standard in everything that we do.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
When in business you have to take risks that are the only way growth will occur. I take risks but my faith is so strong that fear is just weakness. It is levels to this and in order to elevate you must risk I mean to rise to the occasion or challenge and I am all in.
