Today we’d like to introduce you to Marilyn Felizola.
Hi Marilyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started with having to work since 15 years old in retail, then converting to jewelry sales at 20 I had the idea of not wanting to work for anyone anymore then I fell in love with real estate. Finally saving up enough money to begin the process of becoming a real estate agent at 23. I took the exam while I was six months pregnant with my second daughter. I failed the first time I felt as if I didn’t learn enough so I went right back to studying as much as I could. I already took the exam and I failed with a 73, 75 being the score required to pass I felt let down, but the passion that burned within me to become a successful real estate agent didn’t let me stop there. I took the exam once more one week later and I passed in January 26, 2026. I became a real estate agent. I felt as if I have achieved the greatest victory in my career. No five months and I’ve had several closings and a few new listings! Although real estate can be months without seeing any outcome, you have to stay persistent and believe in yourself!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a very rocky road for me in the beginning, figuring out how to even be an agent and how to handle clients but having a knowledgeable mentor really goes a long way when you’re a new agent real one always has to know it takes money to make money.
