Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Nguyen.
Hi Madeline, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Asian Night Market Jax started about two years ago with a simple idea—to bring something new and exciting to the Jacksonville community. We wanted to create a space where people could experience the vibrant energy of an Asian night market, right here at home.
In the beginning, it wasn’t easy. Because the concept was so new to the area, many vendors were unsure about participating. To get things started, we wore multiple hats—we organized the event, cooked, and sold food ourselves. We also invited friends and family to join us and help bring the vision to life.
Over time, the community began to embrace the concept. Today, Asian Night Market Jax features a wide variety of vendors offering different types of Asian cuisine, along with live entertainment, music, and interactive experiences. Guests can enjoy activities like free bingo with prizes and fun eating contests, making it a lively, family-friendly event.
What started as a small, uncertain idea has grown into a celebration of food, culture, and community—and we’re proud to continue sharing that experience with Jacksonville.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning, one of our biggest challenges was introducing a completely new concept to Jacksonville. Many vendors were hesitant to participate because they weren’t familiar with the night market model and didn’t know what to expect.
To keep the vision alive, we had to do everything ourselves—organizing, cooking, selling—and we relied heavily on the support of friends and family to help fill the space and create the atmosphere we imagined. There were also challenges with building awareness, weather, and making sure each event had enough variety and energy to keep guests coming back.
But those early struggles taught us a lot. Over time, as more people experienced the market, both vendors and attendees began to trust and support the concept. What once felt uncertain has now grown into something the community looks forward to, and that makes every challenge along the way worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a Geico local insurance agency owner who truly cares about my community. My goal is not just to provide coverage, but to help people feel confident and prepared for whatever life brings. I believe in showing up, building trust, and supporting the people around me—not only through my work, but also by creating spaces like Asian Night Market Jax where our community can come together
What’s next?
Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue growing Asian Night Market Jax and making it an even bigger experience for the Jacksonville community. Our goal is to bring in more diverse food vendors and expand the variety of cultural offerings so there’s always something new for guests to enjoy.
We’re also exploring opportunities to host the market in larger venues and potentially expand to multiple locations across the city. Ultimately, we want Asian Night Market Jax to become a staple event in Jacksonville—something people look forward to regularly, where food, culture, and community come together in a fun and meaningful
