Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyndsay Talbott
Hi Lyndsay, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Roanoke Virginia, a small city in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I had a very nice and typical childhood. Great parents, great family, and great friends. At a high school graduation party, I met my now husband, Brandon Wells. After I graduated High School, I attended Christopher Newport University where I received a Management and a Marketing degree. I went on to be an Event Manager for a wedding venue in Roanoke and fell in love with the wedding industry. I started doing bartending at weddings on the side for some extra money and was having a blast! I thought, “why not make this my full-time gig?”. So, my husband and I dropped everything and moved to Florida to start a bartending business out of a remodeled horse trailer. It was a very spontaneous thing, but we decided to just go for it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been hard. My husband and I had a 5-year plan. The goal with Tipsy Turvy was that we would build it up for a few years and then start our family. Once we were doing well financially with the business, I would quit my 9-5 and make Tipsy Turvy my full-time job so that I could stay home with any kids that we may have. Well, life had a different timeline in mind. Four months after moving to Jacksonville to start this business, we found out that I was expecting.
Now we have a beautiful baby girl, but I am taking care of her while working remotely full-time, and bartending on the weekends. It is very exhausting, but we are finally getting some events on the books, and I am counting the days until I can make Tipsy Turvy my full-time job.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Tipsy Turvy?
Tipsy Turvy is a husband-and-wife owned mobile bartending business serving Jacksonville and the surrounding areas. People hire us to bartend at events, such as weddings, corporate events, or birthday parties. What makes us unique is that we operate our bar out of a renovated horse trailer. We can even do frozen cocktails and beer on tap.
I enjoy the flexibility that comes with owning my own business. I am able to take the time to get to know my potential clients and ensure the services Tipsy Turvy offers is a good fit for their event.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like that there are so many restaurant and shopping options here, I feel like we have a little bit of everything. What I don’t like about Jacksonville is it is so big, and it takes forever to get to a destination.
