Inspiring Conversations with Learnel Williams of Aliments de Learnel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Learnel Williams.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my catering company in 2018 after moving back to Florida. I’ve applied to over ten different executive chef positions and was told that I was overqualified. I’ve never in my career heard this so, with the frustration and knowledge of how to cater events, I decided to launch Aliments de Learnel, my very own catering company. I researched how to obtain all licenses needed to start my own catering company.

I literally started from the bottom. I created an LLC. Obtained my catering license. Created my website. Created my first business cards. I did all the menus from scratch. Not one menu was the same. With the client’s vision and my craft, beautiful menus have been created. I have over 100 different menus I’ve created for my clients. In the first year, the catering company really took off.

We settled in central Florida servicing the greater Orlando and surrounding areas. 2019 was a hit for the company being in its first year. 2020 was the year. We’ve networked and gained so much clientele in Orlando. Covid came and took everything away literally. We had to refund over 300k to clients who had booked us for various events for 2020. As of March 2020, I had to pack up the company and find employment.

Covid literally took away my company. Now that it has died down a bit, I’ve been introducing small dinner parties and catering to small events. It feels amazing to be getting back to what I’m so passionate about.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always going to be struggles and or obstacles. Being a first-time business owner, I had to find out and learn literally everything by myself. It was all trial and error. It was a great learning experience.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I own a fully functional catering company. We travel anywhere in the United States. We do dinner parties and cooking lessons for children and adults. Weddings, birthday parties, Cooking classes, meal plans, wine parings, all catered events.

We specialize in international catering. We cook, prepare and serve foods from all over the world. There isn’t anything we stray away from. We are known for our fusions. We fuse delicious delights with things you would never expect. We love to have fun with food. We make creative dishes. Our cooking techniques are completely different from anyone out there.

We want everyone to know how unorthodox we are. How much fun we have while serving our clients and their guests. We cater to events of all types and all budgets. We are extremely proud of our chef and his creative mind.

What do you think about happiness?
Cooking makes me happy because being in the kitchen is my zen. It’s my happy place. I really love making people happy through food.
