Inspiring Conversations with Kelly Weary of Belle Ciel Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Weary.

Hi Kelly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began working in salons at the age of 16 but decided to try college before committing to cosmetology school. In 2004 I signed up for school at the Aveda Institute of New Orleans. In 2005 Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans so I decided to to relocate to Jacksonville with my 2 year old daughter and her father, my now husband Fred. I tried a couple of salons before landing at Frangipani Salon in Jacksonville Beach in 2006. I was promoted to salon manager in 2012 and truly loved be in a role to help coach and lead future stylists in the company. In 2021 the owner approached me with an opportunity to purchase an existing Aveda salon close to my home that she knew I had been eyeing for a long time. I took over Panache Salon in St johns in April 2022. At the time I called it Frangipani Julington Creek but decided a year later to rebrand the salon to Belle Ciel Salon. I chose the name because my daughters are named Bella and Skylar so Belle Ciel loosely translates to beautiful sky. The salon continues to grow year over year and we just added 3 head spa beds in the back of the salon.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a salon owner the biggest struggle has been helping stylists grow and then they choose to leave to pursue other opportunities. I am always supportive but it can still be a set back for the salon when someone leaves.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I own Belle Ciel Salon, an Aveda Salon on Racetrack Rd in St Johns. We offer color, cut, extensions, keratin, cutting services, recently added head spa and facial services. We always fully staff our front desk to take calls, emails, and to be there to greet and check out our guests. I truly believe human interaction should never be replaced by AI or a computer. We have points of difference such as head and shoulder massagers and hand massages offered with every service. We want our guests to completely decompress and relax at each visit.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We have 19 stylists with varying levels of experience, pricing, and specialties. I truly believe there is a service provider for everyone within our salon. The other benefit of having options is if your service provider is out or their price is out of your range, we can recommend another stylist within the salon.
