Inspiring Conversations with Julius Csizmazia of JULIUS TEAM BUILDING / JULIUS MAGIC – Magician

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julius Csizmazia, also known by his stage name JULIUS MAGIC [ https://JuliusMagic.webs.com ].

Hi Julius, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
The world of magic first captivated me when I was a very young boy.  My parents owned a Hungarian restaurant in New York City where I was born.  One day a butcher delivered a giant pig to our restaurant, carrying it over his shoulder. I felt awed and delighted by the sight of this man dressed in a long white coat who magically pulled a quarter out of the pig’s ear. Then he turned the pig into a watermelon! I never forgot my feelings of childlike wonder and amazement from that moment. I was always fascinated by magic and tried to learn some tricks from books, but it wasn’t until I was over 40 years old that I was lucky enough to go to a magic convention.

I took my young daughter with me, thinking magic would be a fun way to entertain her. We saw dozens of magicians, and after seeing some cool sleight of hand magic performed, I bought some super soft sponge balls. As I drove home after the convention, my daughter taught herself a sponge ball magic trick by reading the instructions. While she was riding in the back seat, my little girl amazed me with magic! She inspired me to learn, practice, and begin entertaining people at work. Then I started shopping in magic stores, where I bought more tools of the trade, such as silk handkerchiefs. Shortly after learning a few more effects, I got my first paid gig as a restaurant magician! One gig led to another, and now I love performing magic for kids, families, and businesses.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have always regretted withdrawing from Yale University where I was a pre-medical/Biology major.  I’ve struggled with the usual:  depression, alcoholism, debt, divorce, parents’ illnesses, death, unemployment, and near homelessness.
Fortunately now, after years of award-winning sales leadership success at Fortune 100 companies such as AT&T and Comcast, I now dedicate myself to helping companies build successful, cohesive teams, great leaders, and top-performing salespeople. My programs include fun, memorable icebreakers, collaborative team challenges, phenomenal learning activities, exciting games, and inspiring discussions.

Several years ago, I was able to quit my regular job and make a decent living as a professional magician.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

There are three great challenges in life:
    1. Discovering who you are.
    2. Being happy with what you find
    3. Respecting other people and their differences

How do we discover who we are? Who am I? What do I believe in? What is my purpose? What fills me with joy and wonder? These are questions that I am just beginning to understand after forty-five years of living my life
You were born to be real, not perfect.
Don’t feel sad just because you’re not perfect.
You are just as perfect as anyone else.
Love that which is unique about you.
    Love your face.
    Love your personality.
    Love your flaws.
    Love your quirks.
Say, ”I love my imperfections, they make ‘me’ me.”
    And, “me” is pretty amazing.
Say, “I’m happy because I love who I am.”
Say, “My happiness depends on what I think and what I do.”

Just be you. Let other people be themselves.

Be confident with who you are.
Be happy with who you are and what you do and you can do anything you want.

    Belonging
Surround yourself with people who make you happy.
    People who make you laugh.
People who help you when you’re in need.
People who would never take advantage of you.
    People who genuinely care.
They are the one worth keep in your life.

    Respect
    Just be you.
    Let other people be themselves.
Respect other people and their differences. be yourself and perform magic to entertain and mystify, not to show you are better than others. Remember, always try to entertain your audience and treat them with respect. Without an audience, there is no magic.
learning a trick requires self-discipline, and performing it demands that the magician thinks about how the trick looks from another person’s perspective.
