Today we’d like to introduce you to Ella Steele
Hi Ella, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started in 2019 when, as a young high school student, I began getting my eyelashes done. My first experience was far from ideal, but after researching and finding a skilled lash artist, my confidence soared. That transformation left a lasting impression on me, even as life threw unexpected challenges my way.
In 2020, during my senior year, the pandemic changed everything. While on spring break, I was told we might not return to school, and that uncertainty soon turned into reality. I completed my senior year online and felt lost, unsure of my future. I had an initial interest in criminal justice and enrolled at FAU, but the lack of on-campus opportunities due to the pandemic made it difficult to see a clear path forward.
Growing up, I was inspired by my aunt and grandmother, who owned a hair salon for over 20 years. They nurtured my feminine side and showed me the beauty of pursuing creative passions. Around that time, my lash artist encouraged me to look into esthetician school, and with my parents’ full support, I decided to take a leap of faith. I enrolled at Aveda and completed my program within six months, where I discovered a love for skincare. However, my original spark—lashes—drew me in again, and I decided to take a lash course.
When I picked up my first pair of tweezers, I found my passion. Lashing is intricate and challenging, but I quickly became addicted to the craft. The focus it required quieted my mind, providing a sense of calm not only for me but also for my clients. Combining my love for artistry with my entrepreneurial drive, I decided to open my own lash business at just 20 years old. It was daunting, but I had little to lose and everything to gain by leaning into my work ethic and determination.
The journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been deeply rewarding. My passion for serving the women in my community keeps me motivated, and their wisdom, strength, and stories inspire me to grow both personally and professionally. Seeing the confidence and joy my work brings to others makes every challenge worthwhile, and I’m proud to have built a business that reflects my heart, dedication, and love for my craft.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth journey. One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced is maintaining a healthy work-life balance when I’m deeply passionate about what I do. It’s easy to let your work consume you when you’re so driven to grow and succeed, but I’ve had to learn the importance of stepping back and taking care of myself outside of work.
Another challenge has been learning to appreciate the quieter moments in my business just as much as the busy ones. Like many business owners, I found it difficult at first to navigate the slower times, often feeling lost or unproductive when my schedule wasn’t full. To the younger generation of lash artists: use those quieter moments to focus on improving your craft, building relationships with clients, and setting a strong foundation for your business. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but if you embrace every stage of the journey with purpose, the growth will follow.
Now, with a consistently booked schedule, I can attest that embracing both the busy and quiet times has been instrumental in building a thriving business. Each phase offers unique opportunities for growth and learning, and maintaining balance is key to long-term success.

The “LashCast” podcast, hosted by Paul and Tussanee, offers valuable insights into the lash industry, providing tips on business growth and personal development. Additionally, “My Lash Two Braincells,” hosted by Maddi and Elliott Morris, blends personal experiences with professional advice, offering unique perspectives on the beauty industry.
