In the past, Doug Rowland, a successful high-end retail furniture manager with a passion for serving others, made a life-altering decision and embarked on a full-time mission to serve the less fortunate worldwide. Brazil played a pivotal role in shaping Doug’s journey. It was during a mission trip to the northern regions of Brazil in 2003 that the vision for the Easy Açaí brand began to take form. The idea flourished because of the lush landscapes where exotic fruits and superfoods thrived. ​ As the years passed, Doug’s determination to bring an authentic taste of Brazil to the United States grew stronger. Finally 2018, the Easy Açaí brand was officially born, a collaborative effort between Doug, his Brazilian wife Katia, and her Brazilian family.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Establishing Easy Açaí has been a rewarding yet challenging experience marked by determination, passion, and a commitment to making a positive impact. While the vision for the brand was conceived during a mission trip to Brazil in 2003, the path to its fruition was not without obstacles. One of the initial struggles was navigating the complexities of bringing an authentic taste of Brazil to the United States. The process involved importing unique ingredients and ensuring that the essence of Brazilian culture and flavors were accurately represented. This required extensive research, supplier collaboration, and a keen understanding of the American and Brazilian markets. Market entry and brand presence in a competitive industry also posed difficulties. Building awareness for a product like Easy Açaí, which may have been relatively unfamiliar to some consumers, required strategic marketing and education efforts. Convincing customers of the authenticity and health benefits of the açaí products presented its challenges. Despite these obstacles, the team’s unwavering dedication and passion for the mission played a pivotal role in overcoming challenges.
