Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtland Smith.
Hi Courtland, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Below is a brief timeline as it relates to my life and my story of becoming a licensed massage therapist with a foundation in holistic health, looking at the whole body, mind, body, and spirit. I was raised learning about the body, how to work with the body, nutrition, and healthy eating, and I was a part of the start and growth of my parent’s Wellness Clinic. The “family business.”
- 2yrs old, my dad was going through X-ray tech school and was teaching me the names of my bones to study and play with me.
- 5yrs, I memorized the body’s digestive system and placement through a bodyworks game. Like the stomach is on the left side of the body, and the liver is on the right, 8-9, my mom started bodywork and continued learning multiple modalities. I watched as she worked on people at the house as she learned. By this time, I had been giving my mom foot rubs for a few years, and now she was teaching me reflexology techniques as she went through the course. Since I knew the body, I found the reflexology charts fascinating. Already learning everything is connected. We started using Essential oils and aroma therapy at this time as well.
- 10-11 I was my mom’s assistant working with animals and people as a surrogate for Touch for Health Kinesiology.
- 12- I took Touch for Health on all four levels and passed.
- 12-16 I continued assisting my mom when needed. I continued to take courses such as Rain Drop Aroma Therapy and others taught at my parent’s Wellness Clinic. I also developed my animal communication and had clients with whom I worked primarily with their horses, dogs, and cats.
- 16-19 I lifeguarded, helped in the office, and took up fabrication work after high school.
After helping/watching the whole growth of the wellness clinic for most of my growing-up life, I wanted to pursue other passions. Mainly anything to do with water. I attended CDA Technical Institute for Commercial Diving in 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida. I met my wife at school and immigrated from Canada to get married three years later. I completed a ten-year career in the commercial diving industry, ending my career as Dive Operations Manager and Project Manager of the company I was working with. I resigned as I needed to be home more for my family. Life on the road wasn’t working anymore. During my first year, self-employed, I started Animal Talks LLC, where I offer animal communication and remote energy work. I also went through “Florida’s School of Advanced Bodywork” off Baymeadows to become a Licensed Massage therapist specializing in Clinical Neuromuscular therapy and Structural Bodywork. Finally, I had come full circle and embraced the talents within.
The year after I graduated, I passed the advanced Clinical Neuromuscular therapy and Structural Bodywork exam and took a three-month internship at the school. I started White Wolf Holistics LLC, where I primarily perform Clinical Neuromuscular therapy but offer Touch for Health Kinesiology, Reiki/energy work, and therapeutic massage.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I had an MTBI (Mild Traumatic Brain Injury) in grade 9. It affected my academic ability when it “manifested” in grades 11 and 12. it took a few years to heal and influenced me to pursue construction and diving. The experience developed more profound compassion and understanding of people’s healing journeys. Healing can be messy, and holding space for people in a therapeutic setting is a blessing. Taking the leap of faith to resign from my Commercial Diving Career and pursue the alternative healing arts was scary. Leaving a guaranteed salary to work for myself. That is the best move I have made. This career is a passion of mine that I love doing.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What sets me apart from others is the variety of modalities and energy work I integrate into each session—providing unique treatments each session addressing long-term and short-term goals. Indeed taking a Holistic body, mind, and soul approach to healing. My goal is to see your quality of life improve. Break free of the mentality that pain and poor body function are just something that happens as we age.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First is my Mom, who led by example and started teaching me from a young age. My wife Ashley for helping me make the jump from commercial diving into massage and bodywork and opening my practice. Sean Ivan, Director of Florida School of Advanced Bodywork, for having an incredible curriculum and school. Thank you for the change in direction when I needed it the most.
