Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheya Thousand.
Hi Cheya, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My story began ten years ago when I relocated to Miami from Brooklyn, New York. This was one of the best decisions I ever made. I began focusing more on my well-being after experiencing burnout twice in New York. I started running to the beach near my house, discovered a wonderful church, and found creative outlets. As a result, my life began to change for the better; since then, my journey has taken many twists and turns, and yet here I am. Changing my habits transformed my life. I became exactly what I needed at a specific juncture in my life. This began with me focusing on my healing, mental, spiritual, and physical health and then progressed to supporting maternal wellness. In 2016, I started Hello Mama Box, a gifting service for busy mamas who struggle with self-care. Hello Mama Box, followed by CT Wellness Co. in 2019. CT Wellness Co. is a workforce wellness education and events firm that assists organizations in reducing stress and improving performance by leveraging emotional intelligence. This work has allowed me to write books for adults and children, teaching them the importance of self-care and positive self-talk. Over the last five years, I have been blessed to do my life’s work.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been relatively smooth so far?
My journey has not been easy or smooth at all. For the past five years, I’ve run my business as a side hustle while working full-time as a tech and finance contract recruiter. Juggling everything has been difficult, but it has been well worth it. Over the last year, I’ve been running my business full-time, and it’s a different ballgame. My business is transitioning, and I focus more on wellness events this season. It requires me to put myself and my ideas out there. This season, I’m pitching like crazy and taking risks. This process involves many lessons and even more rejection. It has little glamour, but this work is well worth it. People ask me, “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” I am already doing it!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting?
Sure! Believe in yourself and trust God and your gut! Anything worth having will be challenging, and most people who have done great things have failed a lot. They failed, learned, and used the lessons to make better decisions in the long run. This is your one great life! Be an active participant so you can live with as few regrets as possible and live in and on purpose daily. You matter, and you are here on purpose! God doesn’t make mistakes! Seek mentors early, keep an open mind, and learn to adapt.
