Inspiring Conversations with Chanel Pereira of Jax Beach Aerial Arts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanel Pereira

Hi Chanel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My aerial coach Kelly opened Jax Beach Aerial Arts 3 years ago for aerial students in the area that were looking for a space to train and have fun. Kelly and her family were moving out of state and it was either we had to let the program go or someone has to take it over. Well, we made the decision. While working along side with Kelly for a year, I decided to take over the business and I have been running it for almost 2 years now.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the beginning it was new and a big challenge. I never saw myself to be a business owner. It was a struggle the first year to find my flow. I was trying to get into a rhythm with scheduling, bringing in clients, administrative work while also working a full time job and being a mom. Through the struggles in the first year, I was able to have a great team of instructors who believed in our space and helped me get through it. Now almost our second year in, our community has consistently grown and we always love working with each and every one of our students that walk through our doors.

We’ve been impressed with Jax Beach Aerial Arts, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Jax Beach Aerial Arts is an aerial acrobatic program that specializes in quality practice for children and adults. We are a welcoming community located inside First Coast Center for the Arts on Atlantic Blvd. We offer classes such aa Aerial Silks, Aerial Hammock, Lyra, and Contortion that is geared towards adults and kids ages 6+. What sets us apart from others is due to us being a small community our classes focus on all level students from having no experience to having some. We understand each student is on their own journey whether you just want to try it or want to become a performer at the end of the day we just want you to have fun while being safe. We also collaborate with our studios and offer first timer classes for students who want to try multiple apparatuses or activities. We are currently offering a 2 hour first timer course on Aug 24th from 4pm-6pm.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memories would have to be when I would just go outside with my neighborhood friends and go on little exploration. I was always wanting to go outside and see what adventures we would get ourselves in.
