Inspiring Conversations with Brian Trank of JBFIT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Trank.

Hi Brian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started JBFIT because I genuinely care about helping people feel strong, capable, and confident in their own bodies.

My background is in biomedical sciences, clinical research, and CrossFit – but at my core, I’ve always been a coach. I’ve spent years living in two very different worlds: one in hospitals, working in cancer research alongside patients fighting for their health, and one on the gym floor with busy parents, professionals, and everyday athletes trying to stay strong and out of the hospital. Seeing both sides first hand showed me just how broken most approaches to health and fitness really are.

I wanted to do things differently. I built JBFIT around simple, structured training that prioritizes movement quality, strength, and habits that actually stick. What began as in-person coaching here in Jacksonville Beach has grown into JBFIT Foundations and JBFIT Legacy – health and fitness programs designed to help people move better, get stronger, and stay consistent for life, no matter where they live.

Today, I coach both locally and online, but the mission hasn’t changed. I’m here to help people take care of their bodies, build confidence, and show up better for themselves and their families. That’s what drives everything I do.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I don’t think it ever is if you’re doing something meaningful for long enough.

Like anyone, I’ve gone through seasons where it’s been harder to live and breathe the habits I coach. Life gets busy. Training gets skipped. One bad meal turns into a few. Those moments have been humbling, but they’ve also made me a better coach because I know exactly what my clients are navigating.

Early on, I bounced around a few gyms in South Florida, learning what worked and what didn’t. I picked up valuable experience, but I didn’t truly come into my own until I committed to building something that reflected my values. That turning point came when I turned my 1,000-square-foot garage in Jacksonville Beach into a training studio.

From there, it was a grind. I spent hundreds of late-night hours writing programs, building systems, refining habits, and eventually developing my own app. The goal was to package everything I’d learned – from science, coaching, and real life – into one simple, structured experience that actually helps people succeed long term.

Those challenges shaped JBFIT into what it is today, and I wouldn’t change any of them.

We’ve been impressed with JBFIT, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
JBFIT is a Jacksonville Beach–based health and fitness coaching brand built around functional fitness and one core belief: training should support your life and enhance how you live every day.

I work with parents, professionals, beginners, and experienced athletes who want to move better, get stronger, and build consistency over time. JBFIT specializes in functional strength training that improves movement quality, builds durable strength, and reinforces daily habits that go beyond the gym.

What sets JBFIT apart is the structure and the coaching. Every program is built on proven frameworks that connect training, education, and accountability into one cohesive system. Athletes train locally in Jacksonville Beach or remotely through the JBFIT COACH app, which delivers structured programming, educational lessons, habit tracking, and direct access to a real coach in one place. The goal is steady progress through repeatable systems that work for real life.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the culture we’ve created. JBFIT is built on consistency, ownership, and longevity. Athletes train with intention, develop confidence in their movement, and build strength that supports their families, careers, and lifestyles.

What I want readers to know is that JBFIT is designed for real people who value structure, sound fundamentals, and long-term progress. Whether someone is just starting out or ready to level up their training, everything begins with a functional, system-based approach to fitness that delivers results over time. Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I don’t think of myself as a big risk-taker in the traditional sense. I think about risk as something to be managed with structure, preparation, and patience.

Every meaningful step I’ve taken has involved risk, but never without intention. Before thinking of leaving the comfort of a stable career path, I invested time and money into building my own training systems and committed to JBFIT as more than a side project. Turning my 1,000-square-foot garage into a training studio while still working full time was a real leap – especially knowing there were no guarantees.

What made those risks feel manageable was the way I approached them. I tested ideas before scaling them. I built systems before branding them. I focused on consistency and proof of concept rather than rushing something unpolished. That same mindset still guides how I coach and how I grow the business today.

I believe the biggest risk isn’t trying something new, it’s staying stuck in a situation that no longer aligns with who you are or where you want to go. Progress, whether in fitness or business, always requires stepping slightly outside your comfort zone. You can mitigate the risk with sound fundamentals and a clear plan.

For me, risk isn’t about betting everything on one move. It’s about showing up daily, making small, disciplined decisions, and trusting that those repeated actions will compound over time. That approach has shaped JBFIT, and it’s the same philosophy I teach my athletes to apply to their own lives.
