Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Pope.
Hi Brandon, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
So, I am originally from Macon, Georgia, where I was born and raised. When I was in seventh grade, I wanted to work to have money coming in. I had my first job, but due to my age, I could not. One day, I was passing by Mercer University’s St. Patrick’s Day event and saw all the inflatables they have for the kids. I was with my mom, and I told her that was it. That is the business I want to do. She was able to help me gather different commercial companies. We could purchase our very own first bounce houses. That was back in 2011 when I was in seventh grade. The next year, I wanted to add to my business, and I wanted to do something I enjoy: taking pictures. So, I started training under several professional photographers. My mentor, Darelle Moye Macon, Georgia, taught me everything I know. That is the year 2012 when I purchased my first camera. The next year, I wanted to add one more thing to top off my businesses. I was at my prom and enjoyed the music; the DJ made me feel welcome. He had all these cool lights as if you were at a concert. He had a great mix of music and all of the songs, like music videos, on his TVs and projectors. Could he follow me along the correct path to becoming a DJ in the mining industry? He said his name was AJ the DJ or Andre Jones, a celebrity DJ from Middle Georgia. His connections and mentorship have directed me to meet a radio Hall of Fame from Macon, Georgia, named Mama Mia. Shirley Ellis. She was the radio Director for Fort Valley State University, where I went to school. I expanded my knowledge there, graduating with my bachelor’s in mass communication with a concentration in broadcasting. She also got me along the correct path, Wolf, in the radio industry, which landed me a job during my college career at the local radio station “Lite Rock Z83.7.” I work for Amazon as an operations manager based in Jacksonville, Florida. I am also currently serving as the media director for affinity groups for JAX2.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part, it always has been because I am a huge person when it comes to preplanning, having a strong mindset and leadership mentality, and being good with time management. Some of my struggles are when things don’t go as planned or I get told no. It is all about overcoming that barrier and what smart goals you are implementing to get back on track.
As you know, we’re big fans of Brandon Entertainment LLC. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
