Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Sarowitz.
Hi Andrew, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a sports dentist from New York. I’m part of the medical staff of the Brooklyn Nets and I do a lot of work with combat sports athletes in the UFC and Bellator. That’s what brought me down to Jacksonville for UFC 273. In addition to treating professional athletes for sports-related trauma, I also have my own mouthguard brand Impact Dental Designs.
I make custom mouthguards for a good portion of the UFC roster. That takes me all over the country to various gyms to work with the fighters during their fight camps. In addition to working with athletes, I have a network of dental offices in New York City.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a grind. It’s hard to tell how far you’ve come but every once in a while you have to pick your head up and look at your trajectory. Sometimes when it feels like things aren’t working or I’m just spinning my wheels I just look back six months, a year, and two years and really think about how far I’ve come. It’s all relative!
It’s never a good idea to compare your journey with someone else’s. If you’re using social media as your guide you’ll only see the top 5% of experiences when in reality, speaking for myself, I’ve got plenty of wins AND losses. The key is just to win more than you lose.
Speaking to the above you just have to turn off the noise. You’re only competing with yourself.
As you know, we’re big fans of Andrew Sarowitz DDS. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a general dentist from New York but I’ve found a niche in sports that is quite unique. As mentioned my partners and I are on the medical staff of the Brooklyn Nets (NBA) and New York Liberty (WNBA). I also work with a lot of MMA camps in New York, New Jersey, and down in Florida. This includes regional/amateur athletes all the way up to current UFC champions!
I’ve worked hard to surround myself with the most talented people I could find. That was the limiting factor when trying to grow my brands. I would love to say I did it all myself but that’s impossible. With the right team, I’ve been able to grow my dental group into 5 locations. I’ve also launched three brands in the MMA space; Impact Dental Designs which is my custom mouthguard brand, Injitsu.com which is a home workout platform, and Face Meet Fist with is a clothing line.
I’m so excited because I’ve found a way to combine my hobbies and my passion for MMA with my day job as a dentist! I found a way to make it my own. This isn’t the end either. I have big things planned for the future as the brands continue to grow!
