Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Sanfilippo.
Hi Alex, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
During January of 2020, I was speaking at a podcasting conference in Orlando, Florida with about 2,000 people in the room. As I was wrapping up my talk, I asked for 1-2 minutes of everyone’s time if they would just chat with me after I was done talking beside the stage. I’m extremely grateful because more than a hundred people lined up and I wanted to find out one thing from them. It was this question that I asked each of them, “What are you strugglging with in podcastig?” 100 people said the exact same thing: “Having trouble finding the right most ideal guest for their podcast and making it a frictionless experience by automating and streamlining all the administrative work that happens.”
This birthed the idea of PodMatch. Two other co-founders and I started working on it on March 10th, 2020. And on June 15, 2020, we launched into an early beta, inviting that group of 100 podcasters to join and try it out.
Since then, PodMatch has been used by nearly 100,000 podcasters and has produced hundreds of thousands of interviews, giving over a million dollars back to podcasters who use the platform through our profit-sharing initiative.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Althought it seems to be a smooth road, the reality is there have been plenty of struggles along the way, including:
– Finding market fit
– Fixing development issues
– Figuring out how to really hone in on connecting with our most ideal avatar that we serve
… And many other things
All normal things that all founders face, happy to chat through them as I know that will help! 🙂
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about PodMatch?
PodMatch Automatically Matches Ideal Podcast Hosts & Guests For Interviews While Streamlining the Process
PodMatch helps the right podcast guests & hosts find each other faster and automates administrative work, so you can focus on what matters: recording interviews that serve listeners.
We’re a founder-led business, meaning I’m accessible to the tens of thousands of people who use the platform. I’m always making sure to streamline the big picture side of things so that I can focus on the community and the people.
We’re known for placing ideal podcast guests and hosts together in the entire podcasting industry at a global scale.
Also, we created what’s called our PodValue Initiative, and through this, we pay podcasters to use our platform by sharing our profit with them. We just recently reached the milestone of giving over a million dollars back, and it’s gotten some buzz in the industry!
What I’m most proud of is our human-to-human core value and how we’ve decided to do something different as a software company by being accessible to the people that use our platform and making sure that we’re actually serving people at the human level, not just with the software itself… This will always be my biggest achievement!
I want people to know that although it’s a bumpy road at times, and not always easy or fun, it is totally worth it to run a business in a different way. It can be very rewarding financially, but also from a fulfillment standpoint.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
