Hi Shannon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Music is how our story began. My husband is a career DJ and music producer, and I love to dance. We met in New York City about 18 years ago at the nightclub he was working at. While Jesus had already found his passion, I tried to find my authentic self in Corporate America. Six months before Covid, I left my finance job and sponsored myself on a wellness sabbatical.
I wanted time to figure out how I wanted to live my life and venture into entrepreneurship. The pandemic forced us to take a longer view and recast how we were living. We moved to Florida three years ago and opened up Mix Theory Studios, a music and multimedia production studio in downtown Jacksonville.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening up a business during the pandemic presented multiple challenges from delays in permits with the city which impacted our renovations. Also, it is difficult to open a small business when you are new to the city and the community. We do not have a large local network in Jacksonville.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mix Theory Studios, Inc.?
Mix Theory Studios, Inc., is a music and multimedia production studio, located in the Blackstone Building in downtown Jacksonville. We are committed to helping people turn free expression into successful business initiatives.
Music Production: We create original music for commercial applications and work with artists to bring their musical aspirations to life. We offer mentorships for those looking to become music producers and DJs. We work with local talent, artists, and businesses to host and produce events from wellness festivals to showcases. We also offer a private space for those looking to host VIP Karaoke parties and other events such as networking and workshops.
Multimedia Production: We support local creators and small businesses that are looking to record high-quality audio and video content. We offer studio rentals by the hour, editing services, and monthly memberships for those looking to create marketing content or other content such as podcasts, video ads, audiobooks, online courses, and VoiceOvers for application development and talent agencies.
Our mission is to collaborate, innovate, and create together. We believe human creativity strengthens the social well-being and economic development of local communities.
