Hi Ravyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Four years ago, in 2021, I was searching for a support group for people who look and think like I do. To my surprise, I discovered that Jacksonville didn’t have anything like that. Rather than accepting the lack of resources, I decided to take action and break down that barrier by creating one myself. Later that same year, I realized my vision was bigger than just providing support. I wanted to create a space where not only people like me could find community, but also a platform to speak up for those who cannot. That’s when I decided to turn TEA (Transgender Empowerment Alliance) into a nonprofit organization.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing has ever been without its challenges. Along the way, we’ve faced struggles, including securing funding to support events for our clients and providing the necessary resources. At times, even collaboration has presented its own set of barriers.

At TEA, we offer a range of holistic programs and events designed to empower our clients in every aspect of their lives. Our quarterly mixers provide a unique opportunity for individuals to network, build meaningful connections, and strengthen their support systems. Additionally, we host annual retreats that focus on self-care, personal development, empowerment, and advocacy, offering our clients the space and tools they need to grow, heal, and advocate for themselves and others.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We are constantly seeking new spaces to host our holistic programs, where we can provide a safe and supportive environment for our clients. In addition, we are always open to welcoming volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. There are times when we also require financial support to help fund our events and gather the necessary materials to ensure their success. Every contribution, whether through time, space, or financial assistance, helps us continue our mission and create a lasting impact.
