Today we’d like to introduce you to Randolph Love III.
Randolph, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
.- [ ] I was a corporate after hours agent and first line underwriter for a huge insurance company called State Farm. I did that for over seven years, and was a top salesman. I retired, but that retirement only lasted for a few months. I decided at that time that if I sold the promise of insurance for seven years, maybe now is a good time to deliver on that promise as an independent adjuster. After falling on my face initially, in a relatively short time, I moved up in the ranks and became a managed claim model Adjuster, which meant I handled claims from the first notice of loss, to meeting the insured at their homes, taking photos and measurements, writing the estimate, and delivering the settlement check. During that time, I decided my skills and experiences would be best suited helping the insureds instead of the insurance company, so I started doing insurance appraisals for local homeowners and roofing companies. Once again I rose to the top in that field, and the local attorney said that I should consider being a public insurance adjuster within a few weeks I became a public insurance adjuster and got a lot of notoriety doing that as well. Many of my friends and colleagues were curious as to how I was able to transition through all these fields with seemingly no fear, that’s when I reminded them that I had already retired and I realize, even though we’ve been making roughly the same amount of income over all these years, they didn’t have the option of retirement and therefore didn’t have the option to transition in and out of different skill sets and industries with no worries of paying next month’s bills. At that very moment I saw a problem that needed to be solved. These corporate employees, these independent contractors, these sole proprietors, these business owners needed help with a strategy for life, and I knew exactly what to do. I started ShieldWolf Strongholds a wealth growth and protection company.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth, but the biggest lessons come in the losses; and if you’re not making mistakes, you’re not doing anything. Transitioning from corporate to full time entrepreneurship gave me my first legitimate failures. Yes, I’d quit things before in the past, but I’d always been able to rationalize and justify my reasoning for quitting, but not anymore. Sure all of my accomplishments, professional designations, accolades made me look great on paper, but without the backing of a major corporation, I fell flat on my face on my first job as an independent contractor. The only thing that I had to lean on were my family and friends. I decided that the path to entrepreneurship wasn’t going to defeat me. I was going to pick myself up and keep getting better. Keep making my next day my best day; no matter how hard it gets. Because like my mentor once told me, “The only difference between a big shot, and a little shot, is a big shot, is a little shot, that kept shooting.”
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
ShieldWolf Strongholds is a wealth growth and protection company that provides business exit planning, retirement planning, estate planning, and employee benefits to local businesses, high earning corporate employees, and affluent retirees. What sets us apart is we provide our services 100% virtually for the convenience of our customers. Our company purpose is, “Elevation through Education.” We believe the more you know, the more you know, the more you don’t know; and that unadulterated awareness is the first step to accomplishing whatever your definition of success is.
We took our education from virtual, to live in-person events that we do on the 3rd Thursday of each month in Jacksonville in what we call, “The Liquidity Event;” presented by The Entreprenudist Podcast; and sponsored by Insurance Claim HQ Powered by Hair Shunnarah Trial Attorneys. At these events we not only feed your mind with business and retirement insights, but we feed the stomach too. I believe one of the least expensive ways to get someone to remember you forever is to pay for their food.
How do you define success?
I define success similar to how Napoleon Hill does… Success is having the ability to accomplish whatever I want in life without having to trample on the rights and opportunities of others.
