Hidden Gems: Meet Lisa Keller of Fleur de Lis Boutique Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Keller.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always had a love and passion for style! At the age of 3 I developed a love for fashion as my Mom would dress me in elaborate dresses with lots of gorgeous detail.

I graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology – Fashion Buying & Merchandising, B.S. Advertising & Marketing Communications and planned to someday open my own boutique.

We are originally from Monmouth County, NJ and my husband and I always dreamed of moving to FL once our two sets of twins were all in college (16) (16) (12) (12) to enjoy a slower pace and happier lifestyle after working in busy NYC in the fashion industry for many years. He was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer 4 years ago and with his grim prognosis, we decided then to make the move before we had planned on it.

With my husbands diagnosis, I knew I needed to take the lead and provide for my family. I saw a need in the area for Women’s shopping options so I launched Fleur de Lis Boutique Florida. A clothing & accessories boutique offering modern, coastal, & ultra-feminine style. We launched our website in 2023 and currently operating out of a local med spa while we wait for out build- out to be completed (completion is projected for the end of May and we hope to be opening in June) Since our launch in 2023 we’ve developed a loyal following through our social media, website, temporary location, and many many pop-up events and personal styling sessions. We are so grateful and we are very excited to be able to provide locals with beautiful style options at in our Brick & Mortar space. Our address is 175 Rainier Ln Suite #7 St. John’s FL 32259 and you can visit our website at www.fleurdelisboutiqueflorida.com

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not! We have had many set backs. The first was my husbands declining health and then he did pass away May of 2024. I was not able to secure the hard to come by store fronts that were being developed during this time as I needed to be home to take care of my family. I went through a few potential spaces that did not work out due to construction timelines and long delays. It was a huge struggle to find a space that was affordable with rent and build out costs. It’s exciting to be able to build your own store how you want to design it but also challenging because of cost and completion timing in our very fast growing area.

Another struggle has been balancing single parent/work life. Let’s be honest it is hard to do both and do them as well as you would like to!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fleur de Lis Boutique Florida?
When my daughters and I were brainstorming for a name for the shop we took a look at things relating to the area, for Inspo, One of those things was the St. Augustine flag, In the flag in one of the corners is a Fleur de Lis symbol which I’ve always been drawn to as it is the shape of a lily. My daughter Serena yelled out “Hey! What about Fleur de Lis! You love flowers, and your name is Lisa and it has part of your name in it.” From there we decided this would be a perfect fit for our boutique. With my experience in the NYC fashion industry, and eye for beautiful style, I feel I bring a different flare to my purchases for the shop. I have a mix of NYC classic chic, and a bit of southern charm. I was able to work one on one with my customers during the time I was caring for my husband as visits to my temporary space were by appointment with my schedule at home. I was able to offer a personal styling experience where I hand picked items for my clients based on their lifestyles and needs. Many of the ladies who visited my shop hated shopping and I loved that I was able to give them my full attention and really hear their needs and be helpful. I plan to incorporate this same service into our Brick & Mortar location.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was known as loquacious Lisa by my Teachers – I loved to chat with my friends, have a lot of fun, and my friends and I often shopped eachothers closets. I was interested in playing sports, spending time with my friends and family, and I absolutely loved and still love music. I was bubbly, silly, and fun,
