Hidden Gems: Meet Lauren Marchefka of West Eastern Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Marchefka.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Lauren is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and integrative mental health specialist who believes that healing begins when we address the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. Her health philosophy is guided by the understanding that every system within the body is intricately connected, and genuine transformation requires uncovering and treating the root cause rather than managing symptoms alone.

Lauren’s passion for mental health began at home. Her husband, a Navy veteran, experienced the invisible wounds of service — trauma, stress, and emotional burden that conventional medicine often overlooks. Supporting his healing journey opened her eyes to the critical need for more comprehensive, brain-based, and compassionate mental healthcare.

In her clinical practice, Lauren specializes in mood disorders, chronic stress, traumatic brain injuries, hormonal imbalances, and nutritional deficiencies. She uses functional diagnostics, neuroimaging, qEEG brain mapping, regenerative and mind expanding therapies, and trauma-informed care to support deep and lasting improvement in mental well-being.

As the Director of Nursing at West Eastern Health, Lauren provides care that honors both science and soul. Her work supports patients in rebuilding brain health, balancing hormones, repairing the gut-brain axis, optimizing metabolism, and reconnecting to themselves — not just to survive, but to truly thrive.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe every experience has given me the tools that I need to continue to move forward in my career

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At West Eastern Health our experienced team address a broad spectrum of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance dependencies as well as several other complex psychiatric conditions by employing a variety of integrative medical practices including Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, medication management, nutrition and diet optimization as well as other holistic practices.

We are North East Florida’s only ketamine-assisted psychotherapy center that provides holistic therapy protocols for mental health improvement in cancer patients.

Our approach to Ketamine therapy is different from traditional Ketamine therapy because each dose is individualized and each experience includes integration (post Ketamine therapy) which is an integral part of the healing process.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
