Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Califf.
Hi Kyle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Kyle started his entrepreneurial journey very early in his life. At 10 years old he started a lawn maintenance company that he managed through high school and while obtaining his degree from Flagler College. While working a corporate insurance job after graduating college, Kyle found the home inspection industry. While waiting the 9 months for his daughter to be born Kyle worked through completing his Home Inspection courses to become licensed. The plan was to work corporate and get KC Inspections launched and rolling. However, the Lord had other plans. When Kyle returned to corporate after his paternity leave – he was let go from his job in February 2020. This made for a tough time but easy decision – all in on KC Inspections! Then March of 2020 COVID-19 shook up the globe. It was 3 months in to “covid lockdown” when Kyle, his wife Lizbeth, and their newborn daughter decided to move from central Florida to St. Augustine. 2 years after moving to St Augustine the Califf’s had become a family of 4 adding a baby boy to the mix. Kyle has been inspecting, operating and growing KC Inspections in St Johns County and NE Florida for the past 5+ years. Kyle and his family enjoy the coastal life and all the beauty in St. Augustine and beyond.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being an entrepreneur is probably the biggest reward but also brings lots of stress. Different kinds and levels of stress. Marketing and staying in the forefront of agents and referral partners has been key but also demanding. A young family and children that require your full attention even though you may be implementing a new system for your business. Covid also caused some shake ups and uncertainty that as a business owner and family took some time to navigate and understand.

KC Inspections is a full service property inspection firm covering NE FL – primarily St. Johns County, Flagler County and Duval County. How do you think about luck?
We all hope luck is on our side! I have been lucky to have a supportive wife and family through this journey. I’m sure there may have been some luck in business and connecting with referral partners. However, you have to put in the work and dedication to see the reward. Luck may play a small role, but the dedication and determination is what makes KC Inspections successful.
