Hidden Gems: Meet Kane Baillie of Giglio Signs Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kane Baillie.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I moved here from England in 2016 to be with my wife who is from Jacksonville, i have always been in construction and OSHA on the railroads but wanted to find my own business and be my own boss. After a few years of project managing here, my wifes friends parents had put on fb that they wanted a laborer. I instantly messaged them and asked if they had ever thought about selling and if so would they be interested in selling to me? After a few weeks they came back and said that they would be open to the idea. After 2-3 years, i finally became the owner in 2020. We started out with 2 of us in a small shop in San Marco and then gradually had no room so moved to a warehouse on Philips and JTB. Soon after moving in we brought a CNC Router and began making most signs in house. We currently have 5 people working here.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has its ups and downs, during covid was tough but i made the most out of it by helping restaurants and businesses signs/banners for take out etc. Cash flow is one of the biggest issues and clients paying within the 30day period.

As you know, we’re big fans of Giglio Signs Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At giglio signs we currently are one of few that is JSEB approved for the city which is a great milestone. We work alot for the First Coast Apartment Association (Our Owner is apart of the board of directors) and Multi Family units making all signs from large monument entry signs to unit numbers, pool rules and all other signage you may see. We also offer a large variety of real estate signs with having most of the HOA Spec signs readily available agents.

At giglio signs we are most proud of the years we have been involved with Jacksonville (1976) and the fact that we are a family run business with no franchise to help us out. We rely solely on good customer service and quality workmanship.

we offer real estate signage, multi fami9ly signage, large commercial signage. We also create vehicle graphics and installation of all signage.

How do you define success?
Success to us is not financial gain but creating a business that people can come to and feel like family, employees being able to take time off and have a life outside of Giglio. It provides stability for those who work here and customers that order from us along with pride in what we do.
