Hidden Gems: Meet Jessica Crespo of Librería Vestiduras de Salvación LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Crespo.

Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved to Jacksonville from Miami in 2010, and it was here that I came to know the Lord. As I began growing in my faith, I often searched for Hispanic Christian bookstores where I could find books, Bibles, and resources in Spanish that would help me grow spiritually. At the time, I couldn’t find that locally, so whenever I traveled to Miami or Orlando, visiting a Christian bookstore became something I intentionally made time for.

Around 2021, that personal need began to grow into an idea, and in 2023, Librería Vestiduras de Salvación became a reality. Today, we serve the Hispanic Christian community through local events and markets, our online store, and a dedicated bookstore space in our home that is open to the public.

The bookstore name Vestiduras de Salvación has a very personal meaning. It originated from a dream I had in 2015 that impacted me so deeply that I wrote it down. In 2019, I came across those notes again. The name was originally connected to a book that had not yet come to life, and later it became the name of the bookstore.

That book eventually became reality “Vísteme para Vestir a Otras”, a project I carried in my heart for approximately six to seven years. My desire was to leave a legacy for the generations after me — a testimony of what God can do through a heart that chooses to trust Him completely. The book was pre-launched in August 2025 and officially released on November 14, 2025, when we celebrated its launch. Holding it in my hands after so many years was incredibly emotional. I could finally say, “His purpose was fulfilled.”

Becoming an author while also owning the bookstore has connected these two parts of my journey in a way I never anticipated. In 2026, I have watched doors continue to open through the bookstore, the book, workshops, and opportunities to share my story and encourage other women.

One of the most meaningful parts of this journey is that I once traveled to other cities searching for Christian resources in Spanish to help me grow in my faith. Today, God has allowed me to create a space where others can find those resources — and He has even allowed my own story to become one of them.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say the road has always been easy, but I also wouldn’t describe my journey by its obstacles. I am very firm in my convictions and in my faith, and I believe challenges are a necessary part of growth. I strongly believe that when God places something in our hearts, we have to be willing to work for it, remain faithful, and take the necessary steps while continually seeking His direction.

I also want to use this opportunity to publicly recognize someone who has been instrumental in this journey: my husband, Luis. God joined our lives for a purpose, and his support, wisdom, and willingness to believe in the vision have played a significant role in everything we have been able to build. Many of the challenges have felt lighter because I have never had to carry the vision alone. I believe God goes before us, but I am also incredibly grateful that my husband has been sensitive and obedient to the role God has given him alongside me.

People often ask me, “How do you have time to do so much?” I still work a full-time job while managing the bookstore, writing, hosting workshops and events, and, most importantly, being present for my home and family. I love cooking for them and taking care of my family. There is definitely a lot to balance, but when you are doing something you are genuinely passionate about, the work doesn’t feel like a burden in the same way. I have also learned that balance requires knowing when to work and when to be still. My prayer life and intentionally taking time to step away, be quiet in God’s presence, and enjoy His creation are essential to me.

Even the journey of publishing my book taught me about timing. There was a point when others thought the manuscript was ready, but I didn’t have peace about publishing it yet. I chose to wait. Then, in 2024, God placed a very special person in my path who became instrumental in bringing that dream to life. That experience reminded me that sometimes a delay isn’t necessarily an obstacle; sometimes we simply haven’t reached the right season or met the people who are meant to be part of the journey.

Of course, in business, sales will fluctuate and challenges will come. But I have never viewed Librería Vestiduras de Salvación solely as a business or as a means of becoming financially successful. I see it as a ministry. For me, success is also found in reaching and blessing the people God places in our path.

One Scripture that has continually strengthened me is Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him…” I believe obstacles are necessary because they teach us, mature us, and reveal areas where we still have room to grow. We don’t know everything, and every season has something to teach us. The key is having a heart that remains open to what God — and the process itself — is trying to teach us.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Librería Vestiduras de Salvación is a Hispanic Christian bookstore created to provide Spanish-speaking individuals and families in Jacksonville and surrounding communities with access to faith-based resources that encourage spiritual growth. We offer Spanish-language Bibles, books, devotionals, children’s resources, and other carefully selected Christian products. We serve our community through our local showroom, online store, community events, markets, and partnerships.

But Vestiduras de Salvación has grown to become much more than a bookstore. From the beginning, I have viewed it as a ministry — a place where a book or resource can become the beginning of something much deeper in someone’s life. Our purpose is not simply to sell a product, but to intentionally connect people with resources and experiences that can strengthen their faith, encourage personal growth, and point them back to God.

One of the things that sets us apart is the community we are building around the bookstore. We host creative faith-centered workshops, including candle-making, soap-making, and Bible journaling, where women have an opportunity to step away from their routines, connect with others, create with their hands, reflect, and grow spiritually. We also have the Vestiduras de Salvación Book Club, where books become an opportunity for conversation, community, and growth.

My journey as an author has also become part of the brand. My book, Vísteme para Vestir a Otras, is a novel inspired by real-life experiences that includes a study guide for women. From the book, we have developed a six-week experience that allows women to walk through its themes together, as well as a Leader’s Guide so others can facilitate the study within their own communities.

What I am most proud of is that Vestiduras de Salvación has developed organically while remaining true to its original purpose. Whether someone encounters us through the bookstore, a book, a workshop, a book club, or an event, I want them to encounter something intentional. We pay attention to the details because behind every resource and every gathering there is a greater purpose: to create spaces and provide tools that encourage people to grow in their faith and remind them that God can bring purpose even from the chapters of our lives we once struggled to understand.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that may surprise people who only know me through my work is that there isn’t a large team behind everything they see. Much of what we do through Vestiduras de Salvación is built and carried out by my husband, Luis, and me, with our daughters helping whenever their schedules allow. Our youngest, who is 14, especially loves to jump in and help. I also continue to work a full-time corporate job alongside everything I do through the bookstore, my book, workshops, and ministry.

But perhaps what would surprise people most is the story behind the woman they see today. Those who have known me for many years know that none of this happened overnight. I have had the privilege of working closely with women since 2012, when I became the women’s ministry director at my local church. Over the years, people have witnessed not only what I do, but also many of the processes God has used to shape who I am.

My life has not always been easy. There have been seasons of transformation, surrender, difficult decisions, and moments when I didn’t understand what God was doing. Yet even in the darkest seasons, I can look back and see that He never abandoned me. That is why I speak so openly about my faith and my experiences today. I’m not speaking from theory; I’m speaking from a life I have lived.

I’m definitely not a reserved person when it comes to sharing what God has done in my life! Some people might even describe me as “radical” in my faith, and I would probably agree. But I believe God has even used that part of my personality for His purposes while continuing to shape me along the way.

People who knew me 16 years ago sometimes look at my life today and simply give glory to God because they know where I started and have witnessed the transformation themselves. For years, people would jokingly — or sometimes very seriously — tell me, “Jessica, your life could be a book or a movie.” I never imagined that one day part of that story would actually become a book.
