Hidden Gems: Meet Jenny Sandell of Full Circle Counseling Services, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Sandell

Hi Jenny, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a licensed mental health counselor with a private practice. It started out in 2014 as a one room office and shared waiting room to currently 2 locations with a total of 8 counselors. It’s been an adventure! I have been very cautious in jobs and making changes; going into private practice and being a self employed business owner was very scary….no guarantee of a pay check! I survived the COVID shut down and added Telehealth services; that was quite the challenge shifting children’s therapy to over the internet. I have moved the practice 3 times due to expansion and finally settled into a permanent office that I purchased in Nov. 2022 in Orange Park. It was such a daunting task of a remodel nightmare that quickly turned into an unexpected construction project, but it got done. I added the Jacksonville location in Nov 2024. I am so passionate about ensuring the community has mental health services. My practice focuses on children and teenagers because early intervention is so important to the long term adult health and well being. I work very hard to direct, guide, and supervise all the counselors to be the best for our clients and to stand out with quality care and attentiveness.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
COVID was havoc! I never thought I would do video counseling, but I had no choice and it’s an added service to the practice. The construction project of the Orange Park office almost did me in; many days of anxious tears, fears, and ‘what have I gotten into’ but the project finished and the office is full of families getting services. There has been lots of learning about taxes, insurance, financial management, marketing, and all kinds of things not taught in a counseling graduate program.

We’ve been impressed with Full Circle Counseling Services, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own and operate a mental health counseling practice that provides counseling services to youth, adults, and families. The brain is not separate from the body or vice versa. Everyone has the need for our services at some point, even if it’s only a couple visits. The reality is: the world is difficult, unfair, and at times overwhelming to the human mind. We help people to improve coping skills, develop healthy patterns, eliminate disruptive behaviors, heal from any traumatic experiences, and to gain healthy relationships. We can help with: Mood disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Trauma Recovery, Self-Injurious Behaviors, ADHD, Disruptive and Defiant Behaviors, Family Challenges, Relationships, Academic Difficulties, Life Changes & Transitions. Our services with help with a wide range of life difficulties and challenges through a highly personalized therapy experience tailored to the client/family needs. We see children under 12 years old and work with the family as a whole system needing support.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I work with all the counselors to take care of themselves and not ‘burn out’ Many times I have made choices that may not have been the best ‘business’ decision, but it supported the counselor. I do everything I can to ensure my practice doesn’t send someone out of the counseling field. We need too many counselors. I prioritize client care, staff care, then the business needs.
