Hidden Gems: Meet Jacqui Farnsworth of Jacqui’s Java

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqui Farnsworth.

Hi Jacqui, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Coffee has always been part of my story. Growing up in Washington State, I worked in several drive-thru coffee stands and fell in love with both great coffee and the fast-paced customer service that came with it. After moving to Texas and eventually Florida, I realized just how much I missed that Pacific Northwest coffee culture.

For nearly 15 years, I worked in the restaurant industry, spending most of those years bartending at night while raising my three boys. It allowed my husband and me to avoid daycare, but I’ve always been a morning person, so I knew it wasn’t where I wanted to spend the rest of my career. Once my youngest started school, I finally felt it was the right time to chase the dream I’d been holding onto for years.

Starting Jacqui’s Java brought me back to my roots. It combined everything I love—quality coffee, early mornings, and creating an experience people look forward to. Deep down, if I couldn’t grow up to be a professional skier or soccer player, I always knew I’d end up owning a business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most small businesses, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning which opportunities are actually good business decisions. As a mobile coffee trailer, finding the right locations is everything. Some places sounded perfect but simply weren’t sustainable, and I’ve had to make difficult decisions to move on even after building relationships there.

Personally, the biggest adjustment has been learning to turn off the entrepreneur mindset and simply be “Mom” at home. When you build something from the ground up, it’s hard not to think about it around the clock.

Every challenge has taught me to trust my instincts, know my worth, and make decisions based on long-term growth instead of short-term excitement.

As you know, we’re big fans of Jacqui’s Java. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Jacqui’s Java is a mobile coffee trailer specializing in handcrafted espresso drinks, cold brew, energy spritzers, Italian sodas, and specialty beverages inspired by my Pacific Northwest roots. I wanted to bring the quality and coffee culture I grew up with to Northeast Florida.

After nearly 15 years in the service industry, I learned that making a great drink is only half the job. I’ve watched firsthand how poor customer service can impact a business, and that’s pushed me to make every customer feel genuinely welcomed. I believe people remember how you make them feel just as much as what you serve them.

What I’m most proud of is building a business that reflects who I am—hard work, consistency, and treating people with kindness. Every drink is handcrafted, and every customer receives the same level of care I’d hope to receive myself.

What are your plans for the future?
My goal is to continue growing Jacqui’s Java by expanding into more schools, businesses, neighborhoods, and community events throughout Northeast Florida while continuing to refine what we already do well.

Long-term, I’d love to open a permanent drive-thru coffee stand inspired by the Pacific Northwest coffee culture I grew up with. At the same time, I’m excited to continue growing as a content creator and partnering with brands that align with my passions for coffee, family, sports, and entrepreneurship.

More than anything, I’m looking forward to seeing just how far this dream can go. Two years ago, it started with one trailer and a leap of faith. I truly believe the best is still ahead.
