Hidden Gems: Meet Devyn Giovengo of Gio Made It

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devyn Giovengo.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I got into business in fashion at a young age. I started reselling, customizing, and restoring shoes in sixth grade. I continue doing this until my freshman year of high school. Junior year of high school, I started my clothing line Visions Attire with my friends Derrek and Mikel.

This eventually turned into a record label that is now known as visions over everything a.k.a. VOE. We got into the music industry freshman year of college, and haven’t looked back since. My sophomore year of college is when I started editing videos. I started off charging between $40-$100 for a single video and now my prices range from $550-$900 a video.

Over the last year, many of the artists I work with have been on various tours, had songs with major artists, and have done other countless things. Also over this last year, I’ve shot videos in many different states in the United States and got the opportunity to go on tour with DJ Scheme and Danny Towers in March 2021.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely been a difficult road. I and my team have had to cut off many people we’ve done business with and people who are friends with us at the time. But at the end of the day, that’s what comes with everything that we’re trying to accomplish.

Another struggle along the way has been being away from home for long periods of time and everything else that comes with owning your own business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
my company offers marketing, music videos, promotional videos, graphic design work, and more for any artist or business. You can also find my merchandise for Gio made on ww.visionsattire.com.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
It’s hard to pinpoint an exact childhood memory that I would consider my absolute favorite but I always think back on the times I lived on Woodward Ave., in McKees Rocks I and my best friend Zack would scrape up change around the house to go to Mama Lenas and get a slice of pizza and an iced tea from Blue Eagle on Broadway.

We would do this every day for lunch and usually even dinner too. All day, we would just walk around to sell shoes, pick shoes up for people who needed theirs customized or restored, play football and basketball, and ride bikes.
