Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Kramp.
Hi Daniela, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
We came from Germany in 2008 to the US and we lived and worked in Virginia. We moved to Saint Augustine in June 2020 and opened our Food Truck in August 2020 in the middle of the pandemic.
It was always my dream to operate a food truck with authentic German food. We were always trying out German restaurants, but we were always disappointed. The food was Americanized and had nothing to do with real German recipes. So I decided to give it a try and cook like home.
Our customers love my food and that was what I was hoping for. We will open our second truck in a couple of weeks with tasty ice rolls and the number 1 favorite ice cream in Germany, the Spaghetti shaped ice cream cup… stay tuned.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The Recession is definitely no fun.
The prices for the products that we need are skyrocketing, but I am always on the positive side and I hope it will get better. We hang in there like all restaurants owners.
The other struggle is to find employees who are willing to work. Because on a food truck it is a fast environment and it’s getting hot in the summer months.
As you know, we’re big fans of German Street Food. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We make everything that we serve fresh to order.
We are specialized in authentic German cuisine. On our menu, you can find typical, German food, like Schnitzel, Bratwurst, Currywurst, and much more.
Just check us out. We travel from Saint Augustine to Saint John’s, Duval, Flagler, and Palm Coast.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Opening a food truck in the middle of a pandemic is definitely a risk.
