Hidden Gems: Meet Aimee Dijkers of One Eleven Farmhouse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aimee Dijkers.

Aimee, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started One Eleven Farmhouse out of a love for transforming spaces and bringing old pieces back to life. What began with furniture refinishing and creative home projects slowly grew into a full-service home transformation business. Over time, I realized I didn’t just enjoy painting or refinishing furniture — I loved helping people feel proud of their homes again.

Today, I offer everything from furniture refinishing and cabinet painting to wallpaper installation, pressure washing, front door makeovers, and interior design assistance. My business has grown mostly through word of mouth, social media, and repeat clients who value quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

One thing that has always been important to me is doing things the right way, even when it takes longer. I believe preparation, communication, and care make all the difference in the final result. I’ve built my business around creating thoughtful, timeless work while still giving clients a personal experience and a woman’s touch.

Running my own business has taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to wear many hats. I’ve learned through both successes and challenges, and every project has helped me grow not only professionally but personally as well. I’m proud of how far One Eleven Farmhouse has come and excited to continue building something meaningful in my community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve had to learn through experience, trial and error, and difficult situations. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing creativity with the business side of things — managing schedules, client expectations, pricing, materials, and the unpredictable nature of working in people’s homes.

Another challenge has been navigating difficult client situations and learning the importance of boundaries, contracts, and clear communication. As someone who genuinely cares about the work I do and the people I work for, I had to learn that not every situation will be perfect, even when your intentions are good. Those experiences helped me grow stronger, more professional, and more confident in how I run my business.

There have also been challenges that come with being a woman in a hands-on industry. Sometimes I’ve had to work harder to prove myself, but I’ve used that as motivation to continue improving my craft and building a reputation based on quality and integrity.

At the same time, those obstacles shaped One Eleven Farmhouse into what it is today. They taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of standing behind my work while continuing to learn and grow with every project.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
One Eleven Farmhouse is a creative home transformation business focused on helping clients make their spaces feel elevated, timeless, and personal. We specialize in furniture refinishing, cabinet painting, wallpaper installation, interior updates, front door transformations, pressure washing, and custom design details that completely refresh a home without losing its character.

What sets us apart is the level of detail, creativity, and care that goes into every project. We are known for blending modern and classic design with functional, lived-in beauty. Whether it’s refinishing a vintage furniture piece, creating a statement wallpaper moment, or giving a home exterior new life, the goal is always to create spaces that feel unique and thoughtfully designed.

One of the things I’m most proud of brand-wise is building a business that feels personal. Clients are not treated like just another job. I value communication, honesty, and creating an experience where people feel heard throughout the process. A large part of the business has grown organically through repeat clients, referrals, and social media because people connect with both the work and the heart behind it.

I also take pride in being a woman-owned business in a hands-on industry. One Eleven Farmhouse was built through hard work, creativity, resilience, and a genuine passion for transforming spaces. I want readers to know that behind every project is someone who truly cares about quality, craftsmanship, and helping clients fall back in love with their homes.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
One thing I’ve learned is that mentors do not always come in the traditional sense. Sometimes mentorship comes through watching people you admire, asking questions, learning through experience, or building relationships with others in your industry over time. I think networking works best when it’s genuine and not just transactional. I also think it’s important to surround yourself with people who genuinely support growth, accountability, and professionalism. The right connections will encourage you, challenge you, and help you become better — not just personally, but in business as well.
