Exploring Life & Business with Yonette Turner of Yonette’s Beauty Den

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yonette Turner.

Hi Yonette, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was working for a local Ophthalmologist for 8 years. I needed a change to help with my home life balance. I decided go back to school for esthetics. When I graduated I went to work for a local franchise doing facials. I was there for 4 years. I was working 40 hours a week. I was the lead esthetician, training other estheticians and then Covid hit. When we went back to work we weren’t allowed to work full time so I decided to go out on my own and open my own space. That was 5 years ago. I absolutely LOVE being my own boss and running my business.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not always been a smooth road. It’s constant change. I take on every aspect of the business. From scheduling, providing the services, follow up appointments, supply orders, marketing, networking and so on. Creating a set schedule to handles all of my back office duties has been a big help. Bringing in new clients in a small town has been sometimes tough but networking and making sure to always have my business cards and being present at events have helped.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am an esthetician of 10 years. I do facials, Microderm abrasions, waxing, chemical peels, dermaplaning, lash lifts and tint and some other services. Everything skincare. I will be offering body contouring services in the next month and some other new services. What sets me apart is that all of my services are customized to each client. Before every service I consult with my client and we go over the clients skin care goals, allergies and skin type. From there I decide what products will be used so that each client has a specialized service, not a cookie cutter service customized to their goals and needs. I am best known for my relaxing but targeted services. My clients appreciate that I am addressing their concerns and they are seeing a difference.

What matters most to you?
Great customer service and educating my clients!
It is so important to treat people the way you’d want to be treated and a nice, relaxing, friendly environment is what I strive for. I also love teaching my clients about their skin, the dos and don’ts and teaching them about taking care of their skin at home.
