Exploring Life & Business with Tulika Arun of Tulika Arun, CPA, PA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tulika Arun.

Tulika, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my career(as a teenager) in India as an accountant, working toward becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA). The journey built a strong foundation in finance, discipline, and analytical thinking.

After moving to the United States, I pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Finance from the University of North Florida. While the MBA broadened my perspective, I found myself drawn back to the profession I was truly passionate about—accounting.

I then chose to pursue the CPA , to align with the local system.
While adapting to new standards and regulations was challenging, my background helped me transition and grow within the profession.

I gained valuable experience working with multiple CPA firms in Jacksonville, Florida, where I was exposed to a wide range of clients and industries.

Over time, I realized I wanted to take a more personal approach—one that focused on truly supporting small business owners rather than just managing their numbers.

That vision led me to start my own practice, where I prioritize building meaningful relationships with clients and helping them navigate their financial journeys with clarity and confidence.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
From a professional standpoint, the transition has been relatively smooth, supported by my strong accounting background and the analytical skills I have developed over the years in the profession.

The most significant challenge, however, has been starting my own practice, which requires a high level of commitment, dedication, and consistency to build and serve both business and individual clients.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My practice was built with a simple but important goal in mind—to make accounting more personal, approachable, and relationship-driven.

I work closely with both business and individual clients, providing accounting, tax, and advisory services tailored to their specific needs. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, I focus on understanding each client’s unique situation and helping them make informed financial decisions with clarity and confidence.

I specialize in working with small business owners, supporting them not just with compliance, but with the day-to-day financial insights they need to grow and sustain their businesses.

I also work with individual clients, helping them navigate tax planning and financial matters in a way that feels manageable and transparent.

What sets me apart is the level of personal attention I provide. I believe my clients should feel comfortable reaching out, asking questions, and truly understanding their numbers. My approach is rooted in building long-term relationships rather than transactional interactions.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of creating a practice that reflects trust, accessibility, and genuine care. My goal is for clients to feel that they have a reliable partner in their financial journey—someone who is invested in their success, not just during tax season, but throughout the year.

Ultimately, I want people to know that my services go beyond accounting. I aim to simplify the financial side of things so my clients can focus on what they do best, while knowing they have consistent, thoughtful support behind them.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I appreciate most about Jacksonville, Florida is the balance it offers between professional opportunity and quality of life.

From a career perspective, the city has a growing and diverse small business community, which has allowed me to work closely with both business and individual clients. There is also a strong entrepreneurial spirit here, which has been instrumental as I continue to build and grow my own practice.

At the same time, one of the challenges is the relatively limited big-city pace compared to larger financial and business hubs.

While this creates a more relaxed and manageable professional environment, it can also mean fewer fast-moving, large-scale corporate opportunities in certain industries.

On a personal level, I value the overall quality of life Jacksonville provides, including its coastal surroundings, access to nature, and slower pace compared to larger metropolitan cities. It offers a stable and balanced environment to develop both personally and professionally.
However, the hot and humid weather for a significant part of the year can be challenging at times.
