Hi Samantha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Hello! I am Samantha Shakes, the founder of Made by Shakes. I’m originally from the Bronx, NY – which I partially credit for my work ethic. After moving to and growing up in Palm Coast, Florida, I realized I had to create my own opportunities. After graduating from college in 2017, I had to figure out what career approach seemed the most logical and fulfilling.
Fast forward to 2018, I started doing freelance work for friends and family with small businesses. Then around December 2019, I started working with my uncle providing branding and marketing support for his recording studio and hospitality businesses.
From there, I learned that I could take my skills and passion, and create a business with the goal of helping as many businesses and individuals realize the potential they have. For as long as I can remember, I have always felt passionate about two things: being creative and helping people. I love that I am now able to do that for a living.
Made by Shakes [Creative Agency] was launched on November 1, 2020.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a young business owner has been very fulfilling, but I have definitely faced some moments of hardship. Unfortunately, during the developmental stage, there were some people around me who didn’t see my vision/thought I should “wait for the right moment”, but I never let that stop me from creating what I knew was possible.
However, the biggest struggle I currently face is working a full-time job while trying to run and grow a business. You learn how valuable your time is when you find yourself splitting up your days more and more as you gain more responsibility. It’s important for me to practice time management and setting boundaries in order to operate as smoothly as possible.
Although I have faced some struggles, and know there will be more in the future, I am grateful for each of them. You cannot put a price on some of the information I have learned from trial and error.

Made by Shakes, LLC is a Full-Service Creative Agency founded by Samantha Shakes in Jacksonville, FL. Our primary services are branding, digital and print marketing, web design, social media management, videography, and business consulting.
