Today we’d like to introduce you to Roosevelt Davis.
Hi Roosevelt, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey has always been about creating opportunities—first for myself, and then for others—through the knowledge I’ve gained along the way. I didn’t begin with a formal business plan or a degree. In fact, I stumbled into business almost by accident.
It started when I was just seven years old. I discovered that something as simple as selling candy to my classmates could open the door to making money. That small act lit a spark inside me. I wasn’t just selling sweets; I was learning about supply and demand, pricing, customer relationships, and even the importance of reinvesting profits—all without knowing the formal terms.
From that day forward, the classroom wasn’t just about textbooks and teachers; life itself became my teacher. Each win gave me confidence. Each failure became a lesson. I learned through trial and error, through observation, and through self-education. Over time, those early experiences shaped me into a student of business—always studying, always improving, always finding ways to turn knowledge into opportunity.
Looking back, I realize that my education never stopped. I’ve built businesses, lost businesses, and started again. Each chapter has been a lesson that no classroom could fully capture. My story isn’t just about me—it’s about showing others that anyone can learn, grow, and succeed in business, no matter where they start.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My struggles have been as real as my victories. Business ownership is never a straight line—it’s filled with highs and lows, and I’ve lived through some of the hardest seasons. The housing crisis of 2008 shook the very foundation of the real estate world. I watched friends lose businesses they had poured their lives into. Partnerships ended. Dreams were put on hold. And yet, many of us had no choice but to keep moving—sometimes that meant taking a job just to survive, or stepping in to help another business owner rise again.
Then came the pandemic of 2020, another storm none of us were prepared for. I witnessed some of my closest friends—restaurant owners, entrepreneurs, hard-working people—forced to close their doors. Years of sweat, sacrifice, and late nights disappeared overnight. That pain was heavy, not just because of lost income, but because of the people, the families, the communities those businesses supported.
But through it all, something powerful emerged. In those moments of loss, I also found my greatest opportunities to serve. Helping others get back on their feet, guiding them through real-time issues, and showing them how to rebuild—that became some of my most fulfilling work. Out of the struggle came lessons that shaped my books, my courses, and the way I now teach.
The pain was real, but so were the wins. Every failure became a seed for growth, and every comeback carried a deeper sense of purpose. My journey is not just about surviving business—it’s about helping others thrive, even in the hardest of time
