Hi Rayshauna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, I am Rayshauna Lampkins the owner of Ray of Beauty Salons in Jacksonville & Miami Florida.

I am from Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to Florida with a dollar, a dream & two children. My boyfriend was murdered in 2013 which is my son’s father. After reevaluating my life I’ve decided to take a risk for myself, children, and I did just that! A fresh start!

I left Cleveland Ohio & went to Atlanta Georgia for 2 1/2 years then made my way to Florida. The whole time of relocating & trying to discover me as a mom of two, provider & career woman I’ve always imagined opening up my own “beauty bar” I wasn’t sure what or even how but I had a goal & I was sticking beside it. Lol.

Fast forward, I now am the owner of two successful salons here in the state of Florida (Jacksonville and Miami) wow a little girl from Cleveland with such large plans!

Today, I pride myself on my salons & my love for pampering, giving back, business & life! (I am a true humanitarian). Now, that we’re finally getting things back to normal from this pandemic & the whole Black Lives Matter movement… I am a black woman who would love to use my platform and team up with other beauty professionals & nonbeauty professionals across the world to educate them on what I’ve learned & how to follow his/her dreams!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Wow! I’d be lying to say that anything about entrepreneurship is smooth. However, the risk gives you a sense of gratitude, ambition & strength that you’ve never even known you had.

My main struggles through this process were finances, time & remaining motivated!

I own 2 beauty salons here in Florida. Ray of Beauty- A Luxurious Escape is in Jacksonville & Ray of Beauty Miami is located in Dade county Florida! We are a full-service salon/s. (Hair, makeup, nails, braids, etc.) I personally do not do any of the services. My passion came from my interest in being a client & my love for being pampered. (A girl’s favorite thing) lol.

We’re known for our passion for beauty & great customer service! We’re also known for our complimentary mimosas & donuts on Saturdays! (This might be top tier for my team & their clients) lol. Everyone is an independent contractor however, all teams members can be found on our Business IG/FB/GOOGLE & YELP!

What I would like for the readers to know is that you can do whatever it is that you put your mind to! If you think positively, speak positively then you will manifest it! Go after your dream but remember it’s not an overnight turnaround. Don’t stop when it gets hard but figure out ways to make it easier for you!

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I actually am looking to open up a total of 5 salons. I am currently working with my realtor for a location in Orlando. Orlando will be my first location that offers suites. Then, I’ll be adding one in Tampa & BOCA. (Those last 2 locations could change based on the audience).
