Today we’d like to introduce you to Paris Eaton.
Hi Paris, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started 5 years ago with an eye for detail and a dream. Since I was a young kid I always loved to use my creativity and love to decorate and design. When I met my now husband 5 years ago we found we had a shared passion. It started out simple, updating outdated furniture, and reusing old and broken furniture to create something new and useful. One thing that drove us was our love for vintage, we both grew up hearing our grandparents saying things like “they just don’t make it like they used to”, and that is so true. Not to mention, the absurd amounts of furniture that ends up in landfills that can absolutely be salvaged and saved. My love for decorating and designing our home pushed me to expand our business into much more than just furniture and from that the interior design business was born!! Whether it’s tearing a house or room to the bones and redesigning studs up, a new paint scheme and a change of style or just a simple refresh it’s something I love to do and put my heart and soul into. Regardless of the style and the goal of my customers, I can make the impossible happen over and over again. We’re actually looking to start staging homes for sale, as well as looking into options for investments for our first flip!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We started really strong, 3 years ago we moved from Pennsylvania to Florida, the first year here was concentrating on our full time jobs and just getting settled into new life. So the business had to take a back seat, no sooner did we say “okay, time to focus on the business”, the pandemic struck. Making it almost impossible to really make any business moves to kick off here in Florida. Now post-pandemic, we’re facing some inflation and economic issues, so for many, money is tight. We’re hoping to turn that around and by this time next year have a more solid customer base!
We’ve been impressed with The Bohemian Raven, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re looking to be a one stop shop for all the interior design needs. From refurnished and updated furniture to custom furniture builds, to covering all one’s interior design needs as well as the next Chip & Jo, just the Florida version. What sets me apart from others is my honesty, where most designers will just go with whatever their customer is talking about, I’m not afraid to let my customers know if it won’t work if it’s just aesthetically displeasing! Another thing that sets me apart is it isn’t just aesthetics for me, it’s also function. As a mom of three boys, everything needs to be functional. One last thing that sets me apart is I do everything based on energy, our homes, our furniture, the layouts of our rooms, and everything that emits energy. Most people don’t realize how your home can negatively impact your mental and emotional well-being. A cluttered home is a cluttered mind!! I specialize in bohemian, moody, Scandinavian & minimalism. The thing I’m the most proud of is that I really put my entire heart and soul into everything I do, because I want my customers to feel their best and live their best. I truly want to help people design their homes & souls.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always the one talking, always daydreaming, and always the one going against the “norms”. I was a good kid, I just never subscribed to the “standards” society placed on people. I loved playing sports, was super athletic, but I loved to read and learn. Being creative was always my favorite, in whatever ways I could find to express the creativity I did. I’ve always been a Tomboy, as I’ve aged I’ve really learned to embrace my feminine and my masculine energy.
