Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Each step in my medical training brought unique challenges and taught me lessons that I needed for starting my practice, Meridian Podiatry. Medical school taught me the importance of seeing the bigger picture in any journey and prioritizing accordingly. I often had to sacrifice in other areas of my life in order to dedicate time to acquiring all the necessary medical knowledge. After medical school, I completed three years of residency training in NY. Residency training is where I learned the clinical and surgical skills I have now to effectively diagnose and treat my patients. However, training had many overwhelming and exhausting moments, where I learned the importance of knowing when to ask for help. After residency, I worked as an associate podiatrist for four years before starting Meridian Podiatry. Starting my own practice has been the biggest challenge thus far in my journey. Although I had all the clinical knowledge and skill to treat my patients, I had to learn how to operate a business and successfully manage employees. Thankfully, many of the lessons from my earlier years have come in handy. I am constantly prioritizing tasks, seeking knowledge through books and online classes from various business schools, and taking wise counsel from those with more experience who can help. My constant motivation as a podiatrist is my commitment to ensuring patients from all backgrounds receive high quality, affordable podiatric care.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Podiatry is rapidly growing and evolving. As our population ages and more people live with chronic medical conditions like diabetes and kidney disease, an increasing number of individuals are needing Podiatric care. Additionally, the field has evolved in the services we offer, particularly in the area of cosmetics. We now frequently offer services such as fat pad augmentation and dermal fillers to help relieve painful corns and calluses as well as minimally invasive bunion and hammertoe surgery where patients can often walk right away. Furthermore, we have newly developed technology such as Swift wart therapy for plantar warts, stem cell injections, and platelet rich plasma (PRP) for sports related injuries such as achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis. These services have all grown in popularity in recent years with remarkable results.
At Meridian Podiatry, we strive to provide comprehensive and cutting edge care to get our patients back on their feet. Visit our website at www.meridianpodiatryclinic.com for more details.
