Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Boutron
Hi Michelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2021, my family and I received orders to move to Italy, marking yet another move and job hunt for me. Faced with limited opportunities overseas, I used this time to invest in myself. I went back to school and obtained an MBA in Project Management. I created a professional network to stay connected with my professional community, which led to the founding of Strive Behavior Consulting Services (BCS).
Strive! BCS offers remote supervision for aspiring Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and supports current BCBAs. My journey is rooted in the transformative science of Behavior Change. Recently, my family and I moved to Jacksonville, FL, where we are committed to supporting professionals and engaging with the local community.
Less than 13% of BCBAs in my field identify as Hispanic/Latinx. I am keenly aware of the challenges faced by Latine communities in accessing behavioral healthcare due to language and cultural barriers. Representation is crucial, and I am dedicated to empowering and inspiring individuals, families, and communities through advocacy and education.
Strive! is not just a service; it’s a commitment to bridging gaps and empowering underrepresented voices.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a first-gen Latina and Navy spouse, my journey has been filled with struggles and obstacles. Constant moves often lead to losing support networks and limited job growth opportunities. Being the first in my family to start a business and attend college has been challenging, especially when facing imposter syndrome. However, I am learning to keep showing up and be consistent in my efforts.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Strive Behavior Consulting Services ?
At Strive! BCS, our mission is to make a positive impact through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). We are dedicated to sharing the art and Science of ABA with professionals and organizations, ensuring that remote BCBA supervision hours and experience are accessible to all who need them. Our community values growth, knowledge, and collaboration, aiming to influence, inspire, and empower families, children, BCBAs, and aspiring BCBAs.
As a first-generation Latina college graduate from Queens, New York, a Navy spouse, a devoted boy mom, and an avid world traveler, I bring a unique perspective to my over 15 years of experience in ABA. My journey, driven by a commitment to connect, create, and foster a community that drives positive change, has led me to complete an MBA in Project Management.
My ABA journey began as a special education teacher, working with children aged 4 to 10 diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In 2013, I became a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and worked in various settings. These include public schools in Virginia, Connecticut, and California, community outings, homes, schools, and clinics. My experience encompasses many learners and environments, enhancing my adaptability and understanding of ABA.
Throughout my career, I have focused on delivering comprehensive training to school districts, communities, and families in various aspects of ABA. My passion lies in creating impactful change and providing tailored solutions for ABA professionals and organizations.
At Strive! BCS, what sets us apart is our commitment to accessibility, community, and excellence in ABA. We are most proud of our dedication to empowering underrepresented voices and fostering a community that thrives on growth and collaboration. We want our readers to know that we are here to support their journey in ABA, offering specialized services and a community that values positive impact and professional development.
