Exploring Life & Business with Marvina Scruggs of Hall’s Way

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marvina Scruggs.

Hi Marvina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a young child, I always loved helping others volunteering where I could from toy drives to becoming a candy-striper at the local hospital once I graduated I became a caregiver (CNA) where I developed a passion for the elderly. while working with these residents at the facilities I saw how much they wanted to be home dying of a broken heart, this is what led me to start my Home Care Agency.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Well first off being a mom is a challenge in and of itself and secondly becoming an entrepreneur is not easy juggling both. my journey started about six years ago halfway in I lost my grandmother and that was the biggest obstacle I had to endure. About a year and a half later I remembered why I started this journey and serviced my first client putting even smiles on faces throughout the pandemic now. four years later we are still servicing our community.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Hall’s Way?
Hall’s Way is guided toward helping our clients stay in their homes happily and safely, giving their loved ones peace of mind.

We provide 24/7 Support, Emergency Crisis Response, Meal Preparation, Hygiene Assistance, Assistance with medication, Appointment Scheduling, Lighthouse cleaning, Hospital discharge assistance, Personal care also transportation.

We specialize in dementia where all caregivers have in-depth training on how to care for someone with dementia.

what sets us apart from other large agencies is our over-delivery, I am very hands-on with all my clients making them feel special talking to them on a weekly basis.

What I am most proud of is our ability to give the client’s loved one peace of mind, them telling you for the first time they can take a vacation and not have to worry is special to us.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My biggest support system is my whole family, they are all very hands-on from my children that help around the office, to my mom who I call on all the time for something, to even my sister who is the stern one that helps find and manage the caregivers, and my brother who likes to keep me in line when needed be, my husband might kill me for calling him this but he is my biggest cheerleader when times get hard he is the one to encourage me to go even harder. my best friend for pushing me to be my best who also owns “glam creations and designs” she keeps me stocked with marketing material shirts, mugs you name it. The owner of “Dorothy’s Angels” another Home Care Agency, started our journey together we relied on each other and bounced ideas off of one another which made the process so much easier.

Marvina and her son Kwaseen have been providing around the clock services to my husband and I for 2 weeks. My husband suffers from dementia and myself recouping from a broken hip. During the last 2 weeks, my husband has been the happiest and interactive in some time. He really enjoys his one on one time with Marvina’s son and his game and card playing activities. Also, both followup with his PT exercises. This has been the most positive experience for both of us. Talk about a provider and staff who go the extra mile to fulfill their commitment and strive in providing quality services. Thank you Jesus for this opportunity ..
