Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Hart.
Hi Lori, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I became a hobbyist beekeeper in 2019. I have always been intrigued by the honeybee and thought it would be a great way to learn about them and as an avid environmentalist, it would provide vital help for our struggling ecosystem. In 2022 I retired from a 38 year career as a veterinary nurse and decided to expand my apiary and explore the world of selling honey. I started with Wildlight Market Place located in Yulee, Fl in 2022 and have now grown to 4 markets and to one coffee shop!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part it has been a very smooth journey! The world of beekeeping has it challenges for sure, but all-in-all, it has been a great experience. Honey and bees seem to make everyone happy.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Wild Bee Farm is a small, cottage food business that focuses on providing raw honey. My focus is and always will be on product quality over quantity. I provide honey just as nature made it. I also focus on being as eco conscience as possible. I only bottle in glass, offer a bottle return program for customers, use biodegradable bags/packaging/labeling, use as little paper as possible and only order materials from eco friendly suppliers.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I am currently enrolled in the University of Florida Master Beekeeping program and will be pursuing my certification as a Welsh Honey Judge.
