Hi Lequita, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2008, I was at a point in my life where I was tired of having the “10 side hustles” to provide financially and be a present parent for my three-year-old daughter.
At that moment, I decided that I desired to live a life of purpose and passion while making a profit so I went back to school full-time with my daughter to pursue a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL.
Filed for bankruptcy and let my home go into foreclosure and cars repossessed to get a do-over at life.
Pursuing Social Work was the best decision I’ve ever made!
Went from Social Assistance to Six-figure Business Owner generating income from high-end coaching, a two-year quarter-million-dollar Department of Veterans Affairs grant helping Veterans with life skills and coaching, and DEI, Wellness, and Social Work consulting.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe if life gives me lemons, it is my role to figure out how to leverage the lemons to make the best of any situation.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I go all-in when it comes to betting on myself.
In 2008, filed for bankruptcy, and moved 150+ miles with a four-year-old to Tallahassee, FL from Jacksonville, FL so I could go to school full-time to attain my Master of Social Work degree to live a life of purpose, passion, and profits with a four-year-old.
In 2010, moved from Tallahassee, FL to Augusta, GA, 300+ miles simply for an internship with a five-year-old so it would increase my chances of attaining a career opportunity with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Quit my job at the Department of Veterans Affairs in February 2019, after being there for 6.5 years because I was stressed from going through a yearlong co-parenting custody battle, frustrated with the politics of the government, and my eight-grader required my support so I left the VA, to leap into full-time entrepreneurship with savings and no solid plan to homeschool my daughter.
