You’re welcome, and thank you for having me today. Hi there! I’m Kristina Rietveld, the proud owner of Blyssful Skin, a natural skincare company specializing in handmade soap bars for both men and women. Our products are more than just skincare; they’re crafted with care, natural, sustainable, cruelty-free, and free from harsh chemicals. My passion for creating stems from my upbringing in a family of bakers. Growing up surrounded by the aroma of freshly baked goods, I developed a love for hands-on projects. This love led me to discover soap-making through a YouTube tutorial last year. The process felt oddly familiar, reminiscent of following a baking recipe, so I decided to give it a try. After exploring various soap recipes and experimenting with different methods, I eventually perfected a goat’s milk-based formula that has become my signature. This formula is not only easy to work with but also yields smooth, luxurious bars that are a delight for the skin. Through this journey, I’ve been able to streamline production, ensuring that each order reaches our customers faster and more efficiently. It’s been an incredible journey, and we are thrilled with where we are today!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, it’s been quite the journey, and honestly, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. We’ve faced our fair share of challenges, especially since all our soap bars are handmade and all-natural. One of the initial struggles was finding the right recipe, ingredients, and soap molds. I remember the frustration of trying different recipes, only to have the ingredients not set up correctly or end up with a gritty texture instead of the smoothness we aimed for. After lots of trial and error, we finally found the perfect formula. But even then, we wanted to do something different to make our soap bars stand out. I briefly experimented with swirl soap bars, but they felt too familiar. Then, one day, I had some extra soap base and accidentally poured it into one of the little soap molds I used for another project. When I took it out of the mold, it came out layered, which sparked creativity. I started playing around with different colors, starting with just two and eventually working my way up to six-color soap bars, which became the signature bars we make today. So, while there were hurdles, overcoming them and finding our unique style has been incredibly rewarding.

I find happiness in creating my product because crafting something unique is gratifying. I also love thinking outside the box. There’s a sense of fulfillment in bringing my ideas to life and offering something innovative to others.
