Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Vibbert.
Hi Kenneth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I got my start in the HVAC trade working for a few big companies around Florida. I put in the hours, learned the ropes, and did my best to move up, but no matter how hard I worked, leadership opportunities never came. What bothered me most, though, was how some of these companies treated customers.
I saw homeowners being overcharged or talked into things they didn’t need, all to make a bigger sale. That didn’t sit right with me. I’ve always believed in doing what’s right, even when no one’s watching. My moral compass was telling me I couldn’t keep working that way.
After four years in the industry, I decided to do something about it. I earned my Class B Mechanical Contractor License and and set out to build my own business, one that would focus on honesty, quality, and treating people the way they deserve.
In 2007, I started Air Advice LLC. It was just me, a truck, and a toolbox. I didn’t have a big budget or a fancy office, but I had a simple goal: do good work, charge fair prices, and never upsell something a customer doesn’t need.
Since then, Air Advice has grown through word of mouth and hard work. We’re proud to be a family-owned, local business serving the people of Clay County. Whether it’s a quick repair, a full system install, or helping someone avoid a bad deal, we show up, do it right, and stand by our work.
At the end of the day, it’s not about being the biggest company, it’s about being the most honest one.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The beginning was rough. The first few years were not as smooth as I had hoped. I was trying to get my name out there, build trust, and compete with bigger companies that had more trucks and bigger budgets. There were plenty of long days and tight months.
But through it all, I stuck to what I believed in, honest work and treating people right. I never pressured anyone to buy something they didn’t need or upsold equipment that wouldn’t actually improve their system or their bill. Every customer mattered to me, and I made sure they knew that.
Over time, people noticed. The reviews started coming in, word of mouth spread, and business grew. I’ve always stood by my work, and I think that’s what’s kept Air Advice going strong all these years. Good, honest work still goes a long way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I started Air Advice LLC with one goal in mind… to do honest HVAC work for good people. We’re a small, family-owned company right here in Middleburg, serving Clay County and the surrounding areas.
I spent years working for the big guys before starting my own business. I saw a lot of things that didn’t sit right with me, people being told they needed new systems when a simple repair would’ve done the job. I couldn’t stomach that. I wanted to build a company that put people first, not profits.
At Air Advice, we focus on honest repairs, free second opinions, preventative maintenance, and new system installs. A lot of times, we save homeowners thousands by fixing what others said had to be replaced. We also take pride in helping elderly customers, military families, and anyone who’s been taken advantage of.
I’m LEED certified, but more importantly, I’m hands-on. I still answer most calls myself and run service calls too. My kids and relatives help out with admin, customer service, and marketing, so it really is a family operation.
What sets us apart is simple… we don’t upsell, we don’t pressure, and we don’t trap people in 10-year contracts. Folks around here know they can call us for honest work, fair pricing, and someone who actually shows up when they say they will.
I’m proud of what we’ve built, and I’m proud to serve this community. I don’t want to be the biggest HVAC company in Florida, I just want to be the one people trust.
That’s what Air Advice LLC is all about: honest work, good people, and keeping Clay County cool.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I owe a lot to my dad and my HVAC instructor. My dad was the one who first pushed me toward this trade after I spent some time working in welding. He knew I liked working with my hands and solving problems, and he told me HVAC could be a real career, not just another job. He was right.
My HVAC instructor at what’s now Florida State College at Jacksonville (it used to be called Florida Community College at Jacksonville when I attended) also played a big part in shaping how I work today. He didn’t just teach the basics, he showed me what it meant to do things right, to take pride in your work, and to never cut corners. Those lessons stuck with me, and they’re a big reason Air Advice LLC is built on honesty, integrity, and treating people fairly.
