Exploring Life & Business with Karl Sharrah of Sharrah’s RV Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karl Sharrah.

Hi Karl, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
During Covid in 2020, our family decided to sell our house and everything we own to travel the US. I was working from the home office and all our kids were in Florida virtual school because of Covid so we moved into a RV and set out to see all the national parks we could. Our family has a goal to visit every national park in the US and as of 2026, we have visited 34 national parks to date.

We really enjoyed the RV full-time lifestyle and stayed at numerous RV parks throughout the US. We eventually stopped traveling and came back to our home base in North Central Florida to plan our next chapter. At that time, I noticed that Lake City Florida only had a couple RV Parks and there was more opportunity there due to I75 being the main gateway for people traveling in and out of Florida. Along with my brother, Stephen Sharrah, and my dad, Karl Sharrah Sr., we set out to see if we could open a RV Park in Lake City, Florida. We formed the LLC in 2020 and started the process.

From the very beginning of the idea to the opening of the RV Park took around 4-5 years which consisted of land procurement, re-zoning, RV Park design, construction, and obtaining permits. In June of 2025, we officially opened Sharrah’s RV Park next to Camping World in Lake City, Florida.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since this was our first time building a RV Park, we did encounter many things along the way that were great learning experiences. We already knew we had a great location, great design, and great ideas on how to streamline the reservation process. We just had to execute on building out the design as best as possible which we were able to accomplish.

We’ve been impressed with Sharrah’s RV Park, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sharrah’s RV Park, located in Lake City FL right off I-75 exit 427, offers a streamlined booking experience from start to finish. Book and pay online -> sign the terms and conditions electronically through email -> receive your RV site, gate code, and Wi-Fi password through email -> and park at your designated RV site when you arrive. No need to check in with office.

All our RV sites are pull-through sites with full hookups and wheelchair accessible picnic tables. Amenities include a small and large dog park, high-speed internet, security gate, and bird watching area. We plan on building a bathhouse in 2026.

Our Mission Statement is:

“Our mission is to provide an RV camping experience that is seamless from start to finish and promotes well-being for your entire family. We will achieve this through design, nature, and wellness throughout our RV parks.”

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I would say my wife and 4 kids deserve credit in helping make this a reality. We moved our RV to Lake City to specifically be close to the build and my family took care of multiple chores that needed to happen along the way.

Our current RV hosts for the RV Park also deserve credit in making the RV Park a success. We felt it was very important to hire friendly RV hosts so that customers would feel comfortable staying with us.

We also had a consultant, Stephen Douglas, as part of the project team for the build that helped us immensely for the construction phase.
