Hi Jeffrey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Paint Pro’s started in a garage. After that, I worked out of the Avenues Mall parking lot, doing whatever I had to do to keep moving forward. When I met my wife, I was working out of a storage and business area off Powers Avenue. We did not have investors, a big team, or a perfect plan. We were simply building it one job at a time.
The landlord of the home we were renting believed in us and showed us the property where Paint Pro’s is located today. We took a chance, worked nonstop, and put everything we could back into the business. At the same time, we were building a family and raising five kids.
Now we have outgrown the property that once felt bigger than we could ever need. Going from a garage and a mall parking lot to a full-service shop and becoming a two-time Best of Bold City winner still feels unreal. Nothing was handed to us. Paint Pro’s was built through hard work, sacrifice, loyal customers, and people who believed in us before there was much to believe in.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Before Paint Pro’s, I was a professional motorcycle stunt rider and ranked among the top five riders on the East Coast. In January 2011, I was involved in a life-threatening crash during a competition. In one moment, everything changed. I went from competing at a high level to trying to recover and figure out what came next.
That crash changed my entire outlook on life. It taught me that nothing is guaranteed and made me look differently at responsibility, hard work, and the people who depend on me. If it were not for that crash, I honestly do not think my mentality as a business owner and family man would be where it is today.
Building Paint Pro’s became part of rebuilding my life. I started with what I had and worked wherever I could, from a garage to the Avenues Mall parking lot, then a storage and business area off Powers Avenue. There was no financial backing or guaranteed paycheck. Every move was a risk, and almost everything we made went back into the business.
My wife and I built Paint Pro’s while also building our family and raising five children. We have faced slow periods, setbacks, financial pressure, and growing pains, but we continued moving forward. Now we have even outgrown our current property. The crash nearly took everything from me, but it also helped shape the business owner, husband, and father I am today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Paint Pro’s is a family-owned auto body and collision repair shop in Jacksonville. We handle collision repairs, insurance claims, bodywork, complete refinishing, custom paint, wide-body kit installations, powder coating, and one-of-a-kind automotive projects. We work on everything from daily drivers to high-end and exotic vehicles, and we are known for taking on difficult jobs that many other shops will not touch.
What sets us apart is that we are still personally involved in the work. Our customers and their vehicles are not just numbers on a repair order. We pay attention to the small details, communicate honestly, and care about what leaves our shop with our name attached to it. Much of our business has grown through word of mouth, repeat customers, and referrals.
We are proud to have been voted Jacksonville’s Best Auto Body/Collision Center through Best of Bold City two years in a row. More than the awards, we are proud that a business that began in a garage has grown into a respected full-service facility. Paint Pro’s is not a corporate chain. It is a business our family built from the ground up, and we continue to bring that same work ethic and hands-on approach to every job.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was traveling to Chama, New Mexico, to visit my Mepaw and seeing a real lowrider for the first time. I remember being completely fascinated by the paint, chrome, stance, and all the small details that made it different from any car I had seen before.
I did not realize it at the time, but that moment helped spark my love for custom cars and paint. It connected one of my favorite memories with my Mepaw to the work I would eventually build my life around.
